Don't you think, any twist can be added just by taking the name of the public opinion is more like a free-hand for the creatives. Zee TV has converted this 'type' of reality show to more like a daily soap. Judges are scoring for the singing and the presentation, one day Manasi is the performer of the week and next week she is in bottom three. Sumeet, Vikas. and Manasi are the few better ones but the others like Ragini , Neha and Manish are just hyped. Sachin is being treated with a different stick. Not only he is not better than Manasi but also lost to Ragini. The daily soap creatives are out of the minds. Sachin loses to Manasi in the first week while competing in top two race, but next week Sachin is still in top two and Manasi drops down to bottom three trying to survive in the show.
Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Lata, Asha all sang quite a number of songs which never became popular so does that makes them bad singers?????
So whats the criteria for this show? If public opinion will control the decisions, then why do we need judges. Even the so called public opinion seems to be rigged. It appeared in earlier singing shows where the better singers were eliminated against the 'surprised-looks' of the judges but the winners never made the lime light.
I think the very fact that the favorite stars are participating attracts a lot of viewers who admire their singing talent.
Why can't all the contestant sing 8-10 songs belonging to different genres and then top three can compete for the top position. Creating non-sensical drama like saas-bahu shows by the creatives can be replaced by the friendly judges and at most the input from the audience and the running totals displayed will keep us informed about the positions of our favorite stars. The weightage should 90/10 just to help in the decision when the result gets tied between the judges . The very fact that all the singers will be asked to attempt all the possible genres, it will show the versatility of each singer and it will be easy for the judges to score in comparison. Now in some cases singers are picking up songs where they can get away with the simplicity of the composition Last week, Ragini got thru by singing a song from Munna Bhai, which was more like talking through (her singing ability was crystal clear when she sang lag ja gale.. sorry Ragini nothing personal against you) The competition should be in similar type of song, have you ever seen two athletes competing while one is running 100 meters dash and other 100 meters hurdles????
