Fireworks on Diwali : Yes/No ?

With my heartfelt wishes to you all, I'd like to bring forth this topic about bursting fireworks on Diwali.

As most of us know, Diwali is the festival of lights. Diwali without fireworks are not just incomplete but irrelevant too. Bursting of crackers hold great significance as we rejoice in the inner light or the underlying reality of all things. Fireworks signify thanksgiving to God for the fall of the evil and rise of the good.

However, today there are debates regarding bursting of fireworks which mean to cause environmental pollution. I personally love to burst fireworks on Diwali with my friends and family as it offers to me more than anything I do on other festivals. Bursting fireworks fills in me the joy of having our traditions still ridden. I feel that contributing to pollution for a day at least is all right for the bliss I get from engaging myself in some great fun with people I know and the sense of belonging I derive from it.

What have you'll got to say ?

Since this is a Diwali debate, the thread feels incomplete without fireworks .

Nah ban the stuff especially fire crackers and rockets, unless done at designated spots. Fire and health hazard. After 11 pm no more noise please.
Many have lost their homes and some their limbs and eye sight.
These need to be regulated.

I guess it depends on the place. If it's a crowded city we're talking about, then it's best to regulate the usage of fire crackers. Tall buildings everywhere help in reverberating the sound and makes it really worse for those who are inside. Moreover, given that there are so many people and homes, there is a high chance for accidents to happen. Also people tend to burst firecrackers on the streets if they don't get enough space anywhere else and that hampers traffic.

However, if it's in an open space within a city or in a town/ village where houses have lots of spaces in between them, then I think it doesn't matter that much.
From my personal experience, I can say that if there is space then noise of firecrackers is not really a big deal.

When I was a kid fire crackers were nit banned and we even used to throw lighted crackers at people and do nasty stuff. Fortunate we did not become suicide bombers.😆
Sometimes they exploded in our fingers.
No doubt it was great fun and we used to make our own larger fire crackers too gathering all the gun powder.
Fires during festival periods were common and houses got burnt. Sometimes clothes could catch fire too.
Yes it needs to be regulated and children below a certain age should not be allowed to play.

Fireworks are nice but should not be too loud and should be burst only in open spaces.

Fireworks and especially the frigging variety of BOMBS should be banned. Not that anything after being banned is stopped being used in India, but yes, ban would be solace to my Diwali. Anyway, I know that is not going to happen because in my opinion, even Holi colors should be banned and so should cigarette smoking be. But er, I am not yet the prime minister of India. 😳

So speaking on real level, fireworks and crackers are very beautiful, even the noises of the bombs are like music to people ears. However I am more concerned about my lungs and the insides of my ears, seriously. I try to encourage the Diwali I like. I like kindling oil lamps and possibly wishing people in a voice that I can muster only once a year, a warm one. Diwali should be more like the day you enjoy, look your best, eat quality and most importantly make people happy which I am not fanatic about, but still, it brings you happiness at the end of the day. Diwali never meant disturbing people's sleep at two in the morning with stacks of bombs or infecting the place so much, the bad smell doesn't leave for weeks to come!
