True... i find it very hard to draw inspiration from this show, nowadays. However, momentary flashes of brilliance, like the one mentioned above, do light a spark in me. So...u might ask me, " Why cars, all of a sudden?". But let me tell you, the middle class working man's fascination for cars is something fascinating in itself. Ever asked your Dad what his aim in life is?? He'd immediately say, " To buy a car". For many like Deepak, its not just a car. It is THE CAR.
As i was watching that ice cream party scene unfolding in front of my eyes, I just ran back outside and took a good look at our car and i realized, Every car has a story to tell.
I still remember that eventful day when my car arrived home. Ever since my Dad said he'd booked a car, I was all over the moon. The day it was about to be delivered, i was all upbeat and ready and when that black Hyundai Santro screeched to a halt in front of my home for the first time, my Dad proudly announced, "Our Car". There was something so beautiful about the whole moment and a new member had joined our family. Since then, our car has been a witness to all the happenings in my family. Be it dropping me to school or our friends gang to the nearby theater, paying heed to my Dad's horrible driving in traffic while going to office, zoom my mom away to help her in some shopping therapy or carrying a load of 6 members to enjoy a beach night on Saturdays, my car has been there and done that. Even when my Grandma was ill, it was our sole savior in rushing her to the hospital at midnight.
Why, this show has had some wonderful Car moments, hasn't it. Starting with the first day, when Deepu drops Navya college, the eye-lock A and N shared through the car glass when Deepu dragged her away, that super fast driving by Deepu to ensure Navya boarded the picnic bus and very recently, the ice cream party.
Cars bring along with them lots of family memories. Inanimate things they are, yes. But how many of you noticed the way Deepak ran his hands through the car in a fond way after the whole selling deal?? It would be very difficult for him to part with the very first car he had bought in his life. Sometimes, in spite of ourselves, we really can't help, but get attached to these non-living things.
What do you guys say?? Does your car have a story to tell ?? Have your ever had the experience of parting with your car- selling it or something like that?? If so, please share😊...
P.S: For those of you who were wondering about the title, its taken from a poem called 'Of Mothers, Among Other Things' by A.K.Ramanujan. I just tweaked it a little to fit the cars there. It highlights how every aspect of our life is just one among the many things . Its not until we lose it, we realize its true value..
