~~**Happy Diwali**~~
So first off all my dearest wishes to all for this festival. Also my jhappiyaan
Diwali is celebrated across the country with full fervor. This is the occasion when we tend to forget all differences we have with any one; our friends, relatives, everyone for that matter. This is the festival of lights.
According to the Hindu mythology; Dasshera was the day when the good won over the evil. Ram defeated Raavan in an epic battle and rightfully got Sita back. That was the day when again light was spread in the universe.
Diwali is the day when ram along with sita returned back to Ayodhya. Loads of lights were lighted as they both were returning to their home; kingdom after 14 years of exile. And this day is celebrated all over India like no other festival. Hence Diwali is also known as the festival of lights.
I being a Maharahstrian; thought of sharing the rituals we perform in Diwali. I don't how other communities celebrate it. According to us now; we shall start the rituals from tomorrow. Tomorrow is **Vasu-Baras**. It the day when we pray to the cow and her calf. They are worshiped tomorrow. It is because all Hindus have given cow a status of a mother. And hence she is being worshipped.
We all celebrate **Lakshmi Puja**. It is the worshipping of goddess Lakshmi- the deity of money. It is celebrated all over India.
So this diwali I pray that we all have a healthy year ahead of us. May god bless all of you and your dreams come true. May you be in the best of your health. May you achieve all the success, and your aspirations be fulfilled.
The reason for posting this topic was to come and share your memories; your experiences; any childhood peculiar day you remember when anyone says Diwali; any thing you want to share here. Hence go ahead. I am eagerly waiting for you replies as I want to personally wish all of you a Happy Diwali.
I am a student of veterinary science (3rd year). I request you all not to burst crackers as this makes a lot of pollution. Not only air but also noise pollution. Animals are scared by the noise and their health is adversely affected by the use of crackers. This is a sincere request. I would love if you guys once again think about the issue before bursting crackers. It's not only about pollution but also about the major challenge our country is facing; the problem of child labor. So if you stop buying crackers; we can do at least our bit to save the poor children from being exploited. You will be saying that children are exploited in every industry in our country; be it the hotel or the any other industry. So please contribute to the environment and let's pledge to do our bit for a greener world.
Hope my post didn't bore you guys. And I shall be uploading the pictures of the Diwali decorations done at my house; if you want me to.
