While I agree with you that India has a major "white skin" obsession I disagree that Katrina is ONLY famous because of her fair skin. OR the fact that she is a foreigner.
If that were the case then over the course of years we should have seen Mandakini, Salma Agha, Zarina, Zeba Bakhtiyar, the gal who played Aamir Khan's other love interest in Lagaan, and the scores of "extras" who dance with Akshay kumar - famous.
But they have not all become famous. Katrina does have a certain "Oomph" factor and is a beautiful gal. That have made her famous. Inspite of being a baaad actor and a dumb belle.
