Mythology shows in popular culture

Surrounded by the crowd of reality shows, dance-music shows and saas-bahu sagas, mythological and hysterical shows don't just entertain but also take their viewers back to their roots. As a result, these shows have become a popular culture.

Let's take a look at this new trend…

As fashion always repeats itself, television channels are also adapting the old Doordarshan formula to keep their channel rich in family content and maintain a balance. Having said that, myths and history are important for every individual as they allow us to know how our ancestors believed and what they thought. Be it kids or the elder ones in the family everyone loves mythological shows.

Because of it's family content value, the mythological shows on Indian television are much in demand. For instance Zee TV's historic show Shobha Somnath Ki is getting interesting day by day with new characters being introduced and a leap is in the offing whereas Jhansi Ki Rani was one of the most watched show on Zee TV.

Similarly, the historical drama on Imagine TV Chandragupta Maurya is doing well for the channel. Not to forget Dwarkadheesh: Bhagwan Shri Krishna that came as a fresh breath for mythological show lovers.

Realizing this, Colors has even moved its Veer Shivaji to prime time slot as opposed to weekends earlier as based on its content, the show is best suited for family audience.

Sahara One is perhaps one channel to have understood this so well as three shows; Jai Jai Jai Bajrangbali, Kahani Chandrakanta Ki, and Mata Ki Chowki which recently ended. Interestingly, these shows are doing well for the channel.
