Karan Johar and his team have created and broken many records, and this one, if the trade has it right, is in a different league. The same goes for Hrithik Roshan, whose film Krrish 3 went for a record-breaking price, not only its terrestrial but also satellite and music rights. Now both (Karan and Hrithik) have taken things to another level.
If the buzz in the film trade is to be believed, the satellite rights of Agneepath have sold for a new record price. We are told it's almost Rs 40 crore. And, hold your breath; there is a structuring option in the deal, which will allow the satellite value to rise beyond Rs 40 crore. Phew!!! The rights have been bought by Zee TV. Jayantilal Gada said, "We've bought the satellite rights but we don't want to comment on the commercials."
Meanwhile, Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, did not speak to us over the phone but he sent us this text: "We're happy about the satellite price and looking forward to a wonderful association with Zee, starting with Agneepath."
