Hey everyone!

I apologize duly for all the delay on completing the previous thread, and consequently posting this one with yet more delay, but even though my temperature initially sort of came down, it escalated again the day after and ended up as a miserable winter flu - the usual rounds of fever and coughing and blah... Sorry for sounding like a whine, but I came online IF after almost 2 days now - and I'm making this thread for the next clips because the videos were uploaded from earlier, and I'd hate to hold up the discussion any further.

Will pass written for this one - unless I feel better by tomorrow, which seems only half likely as of now. But hopefully Nur can get you all her awesome caps and the lot of you can go through the usual rounds of discussion actively! Will look forward to reading all that - and will certainly strive to do my bak bak at least in response to comments and caps! And hopefully resume routine by the next thread.

Hope everyone enjoyed the extra rounds of dessert from the last thread - not to mention the rare and amazing TLC we got from GK ☺️

Here goes next...

So reading Mini and Alanta's posts was enough for my resistance to go poof, and in my response to them I ended up doing more or less the written for these scenes ... so I decided to edit this same comment and post it here.

---

The reason I clubbed those first two scenes in the first clip is because they stood out so well in comparison of GK and KT. Kesar in the first scene, as you said Mini, was a good friend to Talli. The kind who was even going to tell her off to be so silly, but ends up softening, and playing around the sense in a different lighter way. He's the kind of bestie one needs to be cheered up in dumps of moods - the kind who will talk all nonsense and make you grin no matter what! But you're so right about how Talli's pain doesn't shine like an equal in his own eyes. He's concerned for his friend, he's not suffering her pain for her!

With Gulaal that really does change. Her pain pierces through him like its own. Her tears are unbearable to him to the extent that he walks out on them, so many times. Her tears break through his walls of a decade and have him humble within seconds, without questioning why!

And the cute listing of signs of love by Dr. Love Guru Kesar in the first part, for teasing Talli - reflect in such a somber way in the latter GK bit. In the morning he is teasing Talli about being so preoccupied by her own love and world, to not pay heed to hunger and sleep. In the evening, he's showing all those signs, and so much more blatantly! Gulaal asking him, bhook nahi hai, yeh mann nahi hai - is almost a graver version of Kesar from the morning, when he asked Talli the same, in a playful way and different words. And the way Gulaal tells him to not wreck his wrath from one problem over another, is also synonymous in a graver sense of the way he was objectively reasoning with Talli in the morning, when he told her - akeli thi, is liye aur akela hone chali gayi wahan jahan aur koi nahin hai?! - The words ring SO true of Kesar himself, the way he has isolated his dilemma, the way he battles it out himself going round and round in circles! Its like you could ask him the same thing - khud se 10 saal mein jawab nahi mila, is liye aaj bhi khud se maang raha hai?! - like he's mildly accuses Talli of isolating herself more when she was lonely, Kesar technically runs further away from the answer when 'officially' he wants to seek it out so bad!

Of course, the fact that Gulaal's reason makes him change his mind is such a scene of relief after the days before when he's all but rebuked her suggestions and done exactly the opposite. Gulaal's smile to him at that, is indication of the same.

Echoing you Mini - Gulaal and Talli, esp Gulaal, in the first scene, and that conclusive smile after Kesar says 'pyaar hai' is... kinda cringing. I can't really get mad at Gulaal in a scene that is overall so cute on Kesar quotient, but really, she was one buffoon matchmaker! A tweaked around Emma version 😆 So consumed is she by her own 'fantasy' for these two - nothing else glaring in her face makes a mark! But oh, not to forget, that little eye exchange between Kesar and Gulaal before Kesar ki dimaag ki batti goes FLASH - is so so so amazingly reflective of how these two are a team! The way they almost gang up on teasing her - reminded of the time later, when GK become friends again and Talli walks in with Kunnu's gift and Kesar teases her about how Kunnu has no idea about the nagada she is 😆

---

Second scene - I want to mention that I titled it so, because of how Vasant remained the picture in Gulaal's heart for such a long time, and how Gulaal remained the picture in Kesar's heart - forever - through the high and lows, in both cases.

The scene really stands out for me, most importantly, because of how reflective it is of how Kesar was never replacing Vasant in any sense. Officially in designation, Vasant was Gulaal's first husband and Kesar her second - but really, that's where the 'spot taking' ends. Kesar had his own place in Gulaal's heart, from the start - and what really happened in time was for that place to not only grow in expanse but in dimensions too. He was never just Vasant's little brother to her, but Kesar, and he went on to become her Kesar over time - from the boy who was her ward, to this person who was the crux of her 'sapna', the focus of her being.

And this scene sort of reflects all those angles. Kesar the little boy, Kesar Vasant's brother, Kesar the support system - basically, Gulaal's Kesar.

There is a vulnerability in the way he wants to take away her pain - but I love how symbolic it is that Kesar doesn't wipe away her tears in this scene. These are not the tears he has given, on the contrary the tears are all she has connecting her to Vasant at this point, happy and sad tears - and the fact that he doesn't wipe them away, instead tells her not to hide them, is about how he never really takes away the essence of Vasant in Gulaal's life. Instead, he thinks of a way to give her new smiles - smiles that will bear Kesar in reason - and in that, symbolically, he makes his unique place in being her man, her support system, not a sub for Vasant.

In the same scene, Kesar can co-exist as a character who is onlooker to the GV story, and an equal and integral part of Gulaal's story.

When I first watched this scene, it touched me so much, how the layers of his character worked. How it warmed him inside to watch the Gulaal who married his brother harbor this loyalty for Vasant; and how at the same time, his own concern for her was a man's concern for a woman he loves. The seamless blend of those two roles, where he should feel overwhelmed by his brother's wife's love for his brother, and his own love for her - without one of the two interfering or contradicting the other - such purity of his emotions - which is why I always say, Kesar never had the selflessness of Vasant, but his heart was golden. The malice just did not exist. If it was revenge, it was pure. If it was love - it was like this! The way he could wholesomely accommodate various people in his life, not because he loved everything that was living, but by giving those priceless people in his life each their own place in his heart, which overlapped but never interfered, was/is amazing! And even as it seems like such a perfect condition for co-existence, knowing the glaring many imperfections of Kesar's character makes him oh-so-real! 👏

jzee happy to see u after a long time🤗

I couldnt resist my self from commenting on these scenes...

First one: he narrating thalli the symptoms when one falls in love..actually he was talking about his own experience..isnt it?? even if he couldnt realise it at that time.

Second: It was always like that..be it be Kesar and Gulaal or Vasanth and Gulaal..esp when thinking about the pre leap scene(courtesy to Srush) where Gulaal bids bye to Kesar..all that Vasanth did was simply watching them from a distance.. and here and also in the coming scenes with Kesar too is same as such.. he never interfered in whenever Gulaal talked with Vasanth's portrait even if he stood beside her.. all that he does is watching them as a third person..never intervened even for the sake of consoling her..

Great title for the first scene

To be honest I hated this scene when I was watching it live on TV.We just had a couple of wonderful GK episodes and then again the focus was back on Talli and I hated it.But watching it now after Knowing the whole story,it's nice and funny and very revealing.Oh Kesar...how well you know the symptoms of love then why did it take you so long to realize?😆
The scene starts with Kesar bringing Talli into the room after defending her against JK's accusations. What is very striking in this scene is Kesar's reaction towards Talli's tears and pain.of course you see him concerned but he is very calm and collected.now just replace Talli with Gulaal and imagine what would have been his reaction?the guy would go crazy and Gulaal's pain would be reflected in his eyes, which is not the case here.I found this very interesting.but Kesar behaved like a true friend, trying to cheer her up.And then Gulaal comes in and the next scene is so cute ,the way she pampers Talli-see this is why Talli never went against Gulaal because they truly cared for each other which is quite evident here.the bond they shared was truly special. But Talli is still very sad and then the eye talk between Gulaal and Kesar. They are a team here and when they are together Kesar can do anything and look at the change, they are so comfortable with each other, completely forgetting the cold vibes and the icy silences exchanged between them.I have always noticed that when they are together they share this"us against the World"feeling which is described beautifully in the "kavach"scene.so Kesar goes on to distract Talli and cheer her up as per Gulaal's request. The way he lists out the symptoms and says 'tu tho gayi Talli'-very funny and look at Gulaal's reactions, she is also so curious to find out what he is talking about.and when he says 'tujhe pyaar ho gaya hai'look at matchmaker Gulaal's smile😡I am still irritated with the smile.the running around bit with Gulaal looking at her Gudda Gudiya-sorry I just can't comment. And who found that last shot with Gulaal-Talli smiling at each other wierd.please tell me I am not the only one.

That small scene with Kesar and Gulaal was so good...I am seeing it after such a long time.love it.Bechara Kesar,he is so restless here, wanting to know the answers to his questions and when Gulaal comes in he wants to ask her but as he later says in a letter he is not afraid to ask but is scared of the answer-what if the jawab took his Gulaal far away from him. This has been shown so beautifully here.Neil was really good here.coming to the connection between this and the previous scene the 'bhook nahin hai'dialogue is so different in context yet so similar because here too the actual reason behind it is his love for Gulaal, his fear of loosing her forever once he gets to know the truth. The picturisation is also very good.I think others can comment on the technical aspects better than me😃

the 2nd scene-title so apt Jzee

I love this scene so much.small but it's so beautiful and makes me all senti...Right at the beginning of the scene we see Gulaal enter her sanctuary and let out her true emotions-this is what she always does. She takes care of everybody but doesn't let anyone see her emotions cause it will make her seem sad and weak. And this she definitely doesn't want... She has to remain strong always, take care of the family, looking after the needs of each and every member of this family and she has been doing this for the past 10 yrs.But in doing so she forgets to share her happiness and sorrow with the family and she remains a silent spectator watching the rest of them from afar.Kesar rightly describes this later"tu parivaar ke saath rehkar soonepan ko gale se laga ke baithna chahthi hai"sorry for the rambling .coming back to the scene Gulaal as usual shares her happiness with Vasant's photo. She is reminded of Vasant's sapna, the promise she made which changed her life.she says that everybody is happy but "tumhare bina"and right then the reflection of Kesar falls on Vasant's photo-I love this shot a lot.As soon as she realizes that Kesar is behind her she wipes away her tears and then comes my fav Kesar dialogue in this scene"Vasant bha ke liye hain na tere yeh aansu kya galat hai inme, kyun chupathi hai inko"love it.This guy is a very honest fellow and he really doesn't believe in hiding your emotions. He has always expressed whatever he feels and he wants Gulaal to do the same cause what is wrong with her crying for his Vasant bha.It is her right and she should not hide it.and as Atlanta said he never interferes between Gulaal and Vasant. He was never jealous and never will be,so cute na.and that little scene where he wants to console her but hesitates-love it and this changes completely later on na after the Dushyant Confession he completely takes charge of the situation when Gulaal breaks down and he consoles her, supports her without any hesitation at all.and I love that Gulaal doesn't hide her tears from him after the initial denial.Somehow it's very sweet that Gulaal is willing to share it with Kesar. Look at him when he is walking away and he is hearing her cry-see the difference in his reaction in the first scene towards Talli and here. When its Gulaal we can see her pain reflected in his eyes and he just can't leave her like that in pain.So he decides to give Gulaal a sweet suprise(we all know what it is)there is a confident determination in the way he says"Gulaal" and "aaj shaam taiyaar rehna"😳 and I love the look Gulaal and Kesar exchange here-Gulaal is all confused and Kesar is determined.loved the scene.looking forward to the discussions and the lovely caps from Nur

sorry about the lengthy analysis.

Mini, alanta - reading up your respective analysis compelled me to sit and type - if you don't make much sense, blame it on moody fever days 😳 - but the written post for this thread is updated above : https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/47836311

JZ JZ...tumhare GK-phangiri ko salaam! Good to know you're feeling better :)

I absolutely concur with your and Mini's thoughts on the scenes..nothing much to add... the difference in his treatment to Talli and Gulaal cannot be more evident from these moments..though he is ever ready to cheer someone up..

I love that thumbnail shot of the second clip...look at the way he watches her ..sighh.. yes I like how he respects Gulaal and Vasant...he gives her space..he would always want her to remember Vasant and cherish all that she had..she lost Vasant...he never tries to replace that loss.. only wants to make his rightful spot in her heart as well. Pure is the right word..pure and unadulterated love for Gulaal.

Jzee, get well soon girl !!! do take care and don't exert urself.. give urself a treat by watching dear Manasi sing very shortly hopefully !!!!

And another brilliant post as usual... I can only say that its such a nice peppy scene, one of the rare ones with Kesar and Gulaal... Kesar is sooo adorable in this one... one night of dawa-daru of his poor sick lady got this guy changed drastically... he begins teasing n smiling in-front of Gulaal, who he was hell bent on avoiding at all cost earlier... anyways, rest laters... see you around...

Edit:

JZee...you must take care of yourself dear..posts will be waiting...but your health is more important...
You wrote very good explanations for both the scene...especially the difference of his concern to talli in first scene n to gulaal in second scene...his attempt to make them smile is also different...ohh i just love the second scene very very much...NB was really good...kesar's acceptance of vasants presence in gulaal's life n his concern to his woman...his failed attempt to console her..but his determination to make her smile...
