Will slimey Shyam slither away?

Perhaps, instead of starting with the slime ball I should start with something upbeat. I have absolutely loved the past few weeks. This week has been tremendous, loved the way scenes were replayed and Arnav got a chance to redeem himself. Loved, the way he kept his temper at bay for the most part. Loved Khushi's crazy antics, her willful determination to deter him from leaving the way she raised her eyebrows silently yet playfully showing him she won. Arnav's quick mind working a way to win back the situation. The realization on his part in the different instances that he actually loves this crazy, sweet, caring, lovable girl. Finally, the horror of it all not wanting to acknowledge the feeling. Knowing is one thing, accepting is quite another that is his personal war. Khushi loves him too but will never ever be the one to take the first step. Perhaps, that is why she is so nonchalant about the goondas, she is egging him on to come out and say why he reacted in such a manner. Arnav being Arnav, does not want to be backed into a corner...the first thing to come out of his mouth is "Get out". Since they are doing this whole redeeming series...he will come back this time and will apologize. Well, at least that is what I am hoping for.

Barun and Sanaya's acting skills are just fantastic. Even the body language leaving the dhaba today, both of them look remorseful, tense so much like a real couple. Hats of to them, keep up the good work. I think the directors deserve a thumbs up too..The dialogues have been witty and fun.

Now getting to the title. Since, I know that so many of us in this Forum like Shyam so little and I have been reading so much wanting his character axed...for many reasons I think he is here for the long haul.

1. All of our Desi brand shows have to have a chudale Mother in law or sister in law since we are lacking one of those (mamiji might count slightly as one). The show needs a villain...always the fight between good vs evil. Shyam is our resident villain.

2. I truly believe the disclosure of his awful behavior will be known to Khushi's family and Arnav alone. Anjali and the rest of the Raizada will be kept in the dark. This will help the show to continue its stressful trend. Imagine a crazed man (shyam)living with his object of desire within his reach and yet not being able to get to it. He has desired this for so long and worked so hard, lied and played so many people, was this close to getting it but lost it to the one person he cannot really raise hell with. In Shyam's mind Khushi is married to a man who does not believe in the institution or does not believe in love. He is going to try his damnedest to make Arnav's life hell for taking his girl from him. When he sees the closeness between the two of them and that Khushi actually loves Arnav unequivocally it will put him over the edge.

I think the battle between Khushi and Arnav love/hate will not really be long. He knows his Khushi too well to believe that she wanted Shyam. Most of the time she has been glued to Arnav(be it bumping into him, collapsing in his arms, being manhandled the list goes on). There was no time for any other man. Plus, if she were a gold digger, it is Arnav that she should be making a bee line for. The real battle is going to be keeping the peace in the family and keeping the madman sane is the real challenge. My fear is Shyam might try some shady stuff on Khushi while living in the house and that is going to make Arnav really want to kill him.

3. The other option is perhaps Shyam goes away on some pretext work perhaps. Anjali finds out she is pregnant and Arnav does not want to break her heart even though he knows the scum bag that his Jeeja really is has him come back...same stressful living conditions.

Shyam's goal will be to quietly torture Arnav and Khushi. Either way with Shyam's great creepo acting skills, and the fact that the writers want to give us finger nail biting stress.. Shyam will be here for a long time. Sorry for this post...personally I do not like him either, but I think he will add dimension to the show.

The only thing I request from the writers please give us lots of happy scenes as well. Funny, loving, passionate moments. Please send Khushi back to work with Arnav. I would prefer she not be home alone with El Creepo. Try and change Shyam to be a better person perhaps with Fatherhood or something, Anjali so deserves a good husband.

Sorry for the length of the post.

Have thoroughly enjoyed all the posts on IF everyday. Thank you for all of your insights. Love them.

Ellen

Great options/analysis!!!
Hope the CVs doesn't go the cliched route and show dad being paralyzed, unable to speak therefore cannot reveal the truth. Hence, buaji will go ahead with the marraige and hell will break loose on the wedding day itself. I have seen it so many times in other serials so I am really hoping they think of something new!!! love this show.

Just when I thought i was done for the day writing on the subject, I read your fab post!! I feel your "dimension" is something I can live with.
You are right! How can Shyam turn the blame around on Khushi when they don't even know his financial status or that he is married! I didn't even think of that. The certainty of a hatred track is overbearing on the minds and we don't stop to consider other reasons for the hatred. Anjali pregnant!!!- that makes sense why Arnav would tolerate Shyam in his world.
Great points!!!
We will just have to wait and see. This is officially my last post of the day!! The forum can be so addictive.

I do hope the CVs show us something new. This show has been great all along and should continue that way. Do not let evil triumph over evil.
