-When Rudra's dad passed away, Rudra was in Michigan having his treatment. The family decided not to inform him so that he would push thru with his treatment.
-Rudra was being treated by dr. walia, who was shalini's husband. dr. walia found out about rudra and shalini's past relationship and used to physically and verbally abuse shalini a lot.
-After his treatment, Rudra called home and wanted to speak to his dad first of all but Vikram (who answered the phone) told him about his father's death. He was completely shattered by this news and decided to return home immediately. Dr. walia, however, wouldn't let him. With the help of Shalini, Rudra got the release order from the hospital. Shalini also helped him book his tickets.
-When Rudra was at the airport, he got a call from Shalini, who told him that Dr. Walia was going to kill her. She asked him to come at a restaurant to save her. Rudra gave his ticket to another man who was in need of it and went to the restaurant to save Shalini.
-When shalini discovered that Rudra was at restaurant, she ran to the top of the building and was about to jump off it. Dr. Walia tried to save her but when Rudra reached the place, Shalini told him that Dr. Walia was going to kill her. Rudra tried to save her and in the process, Dr. Walia fell off the building. Shalini brought Rudra to her friend's house and hid him there.
-Meanwhile, the plane where Rudra was supposed to be in crashed and everyone back home thought that he was dead. Kesar was about to commit suicide when Abhi saved her. He asked her to marry him since Amma was not feeling well and didn't have a long time to live but she refused him. However, when Amma requested her to marry Abhi, she agreed.
-Back in Michigan, Shalini and her mom framed Rudra by telling the police that he killed Dr. Walia. Shalini changed Rudra's look and name. She also told him that the only way he could return to India is to marry her, as she is a green card holder. Shalini wanted to marry him because of his property but he wasn't aware of this. After much thinking, he agreed. He wanted to contact his family but Shalini wouldn't let him. She told him that the police might have tapped his phone lines.
-Both Rudra-Shalini and Kesar-Abhi's wedding were set on the same day. However, Rudra found out about Shalini's plan on the day of the wedding. He met his uncle on a shopping mall, who told him how Shalini had spread the news that he was dead. Rudra escaped and headed for India. He contacted Pam when he was at the airport.
-Pam tried to stop Abhi and Kesar's wedding but everyone thought that she had gone mad. Rudra called Kesar when her 'pheras' were going on but Amma didn't let her answer the phone since Abhi's wedding to Natasha didn't take place because of a phone call.
-On the night of her wedding, Kesar received a call from Rudra. She is completely shocked when she found out that he was alive.
