Patwardhan house is divided between the two brothers. They have separate dining tables, and eat separately. They cook in the same kitchen. Their living quarters are divided. One room of Kaka side was vacant, and was given on rent to Naina, as a Paying Guest. She paid him regular monthly rent, and had given an advance at the beginning, which was to be returned to her, if she had to leave.

It is this money that Kaka is worried about, as he has spent all this money on his daughter. He had taken a loan from the underworld goondas, and when they came to possess the house, which was sold by Kaka to the goondas, as if it was his own, the Patwardans had to pay them 15 lakhs of this loan. They scarped their money, between the children of the elder brother, but were running short. It was NAINA WHO GAVE THEM EIGHT LAKHS OF HER SAVINGS to bail them out. She does not expect it back, but the Patwardan family has forgotten it, when the mother asked her to leave the house.
