Part 8

Geet entered the college premises when Sam came running to her.

GEET: Hold on Sam whats the rush?

Sam: Yaar Geet bade pange ho gae hain.

GEET: Kya hua Sam pls tell me.

Sam: Geet wo Nupur ki bua ko uske aur Mayank k bare mein pata chal gaya hai and she is taking Nupur and Gunjan back to varanasi tomorrow and will marry Nupur off in a couple of days.

Geet was happily surprised knowing that her to best friends are together but the happiness lasted for a second or two as shock took over with the next piece of news.

GEET: Mayank's mom Sam can't she come?

Sam: No yaar all the flights from Bangalore have been cancelled due to bad weather so she can't come today.

GEET: Oh no then what?

Sam: Wohi to kuch samajh nhin aa raha...

GEET: I've an idea!

Sam: What?

GEET: I'll ask mom dad to talk to Nupur's bua. Do you think it'll work?

Sam: Lets try! We don't have any other option to go with.

GEET: True!! Ok you go inform everyone and I'll go talk to dad. Ok?

Sam: Alright buddy!!

Geet went straight to Khurana Constructions and told the receptionist that she needs to meet Mr. Pratham Khurana immediately...

After a minute or so she was asked to go inside Pratham's cabin...

Pratham(bit tensed): Beta, is everything alright?

GEET: Ya dad! Actually my friends Mayank and Nupur are in deep trouble and we need your help to get them out of it.

Pratham: Okay, first tell me wats the issue?

GEET: Dad wo...

Geet tells everything to Pratham asks him to talk to bua...

Pratham: Ok beta I'll talk to bua but since I'll be talking from Mayank's side I need to talk to his mother first .

GEET: Fine dad! Lets go to Mayank's place. Dad pls mom ko bhi le lijie ladies impact chahie na.

Pratham calls Gauri and gives her Mayank's address. They all meet up at Mayank's place, plan everything and then Pratham and Gauri easily sorted everything out with bua. Bua decided that engagement can do since Mayank is still studying and can't marry in near future. They all congratulated Mayank and Nupur. All of them thanked Pratham and Gauri for pataofying bua. Everyone left after that but Geet stayed back with Nupur to relish and share her life's happiest moment till date...

Nupur: Thanks a lot Geet if your parents wouldn't have come I'm even scared to imagine what would have happened.

GEET: We are friends Nupur! Please don't minimize our friendship using thanks between us. And ha waise I'm very upset with you and Mayank.

Nupur: Why?

GEET(pouting): You didn't tell me about dating each other.

Nupur: Really sorry yaar. Ab bata what should I do to gain your forgiveness?

GEET: Not much just tell me how is the feel of love?

'LOVE' dat word like some magic automatically diverted Geet's mind to Maan. She herself didn't know why that word led her thoughts to him but it did...

Nupur: Pata hai Geet we really used to hate each other at first and loved to pull each other's leg. Fighting with each other was like our hobby but love is unique yaar "even when you know the other person hates you and you are not aware of your feelings it pierces your heart to hear a single harsh word from that person against yourself"...

The memories of how Maan's few words stabbed her heart into pieces rushed through Geet's mind.

Nupur: "Your heart keeps craving for his one glance even when you know its not possible" thats what love does to you Geet.

Geet was reminded of each day she asked her babaji to send Maan soon inspite of knowing well he only comes on the weekends.

Nupur: "You care a lot even for the smallest of his wishes and needs.

Geet was reminded of the time when she used keep all his clothes ready to wear and prepared his favourite dishes anticipating Maan's arrival.

Nupur: "His slightest pain will bleed your heart and his happiness will become the aim of your life"

Geet's mind rushed through the times when she tried to keep herself away from his sight because she didn't want him to go through any pain and the times when her heart was always filled with happiness seeing him smiling and laughing talking to Sameera.

Nupur's words felt like music to Geet's ears and its every beat reminded her of Maan. Geet was immersed in the pool of her memories and emotions...

Nupur: Actually Geet "love is an incredible feeling unless you experience yourself" so my dear friend these mere words won't be able to explain you the feel of love for that you'll have to fall in love yourself. Geet!! Geet!! Tu sun rahi hai na?

GEET(smiling wierdly): Ha...haan wo...Nupur I think I should leave since its getting late.

Nupur: But Geet...

Geet: Pls Nupur I'll see you at the college tomorrow. Gunjan ko mera bye kehna. Bye!!

Geet ran out in a haste scared and bewildered of her new found feelings for Maan...

Nupur: I know Geet my words reminded you of Jai but I know you'll never admit it. Kuch to karna parega...

IN THE CAR

Geet after controlling her heavy breathing questioned her babaji.

GEET(thinking): Babaji kya sach mein main Maan se pyaar karti hoon?

She recalled what Nupur said about the feel of love...

GEET: Haan babaji ye jante hue bhi ki wo mujhse kitni nafrat karte hain unka har kadwa shabd mere dil ko chhalni kar deta hai.

GEET: Babaji apko to pata hi hai ki Maan ki khushi se barhkar mere liye kuch nahin hai...

Her eyes shed uncontrolled tears of happiness realising the love that was embedded deep down in her heart since forever but the next instant her heart was crushed realising she will never be loved back by her love...

GEET: He hates me babaji(that came out as a whisper)

She closed her teary eyes in pain...when the car came to a halt in the portico of Khurana Mansion. She wiped her tears and entered the hall where everyone's eyes were glued to telivision which was flashing...

BREAKING NEWS: Riots have broken out in London, people are out of control there, the police has put a curfew and all the networks have been halted but still nothing is under control...

She felt numb, her heart stopped beating she frantically ran towards Pratham who was himself using everything in his power to contact Maan or get the news of his safety and she fell on his legs pleading...

GEET: Dad pls Maan ko bulao... Pls call him back... I want to see him dad pls dad... Wo theek hai na? Apne baat kia?

Pratham looked down not able to meet her questioning gaze... Getting her answer she ran towards her babaji's picture and sat their silently praying for the well being of her love, her life.

It took three whole days for things to stabilise in London but still the network was halted thus Maan was not able to call home before boarding his flight back to India...

His heart did flip flops with the thought of staying in the same room with Geet...

Sitting inside the aircraft his gaze fell on a woman who was very lovingly feeding her son. Maan was instantly reminded of Rano and that led him down the memory lane...

FLASHBACK

Pratham and Mohinder were best friends since there college days... After college Pratham insisted Mohinder to work for KC and stay with him in KM and Mohinder agreed. Since Gauri used to work at KC and Rano was a housewife. Maan and Rano grew very close to each other. One day he heard Gauri and Rano talking about a new baby coming he got really curious...

MAAN: Mom a new baby is coming? When mom?

Gauri: Soon beta. Very soon your Rano mom is going to give birth to a cute baby girl. Phir to tumko har baat ke liye apni Rano mom ko pareshan karna chhodna parega since the baby will take most of her time and attention. Maan didn't like the idea of sharing his Rano mom with someone else thus he started disliking the unborn child. Once he was playing with Rano and suddenly tears came in his eyes. Rano panicked...

Rano: What happened to my baby? Why are you crying?

MAAN(sobbing): After the new baby will come you won't play with me na?

Rano: What made you think like this baby? You would always be my first and the dearest baby. All my love and attention is yours then someone else's. Ok now pls stop crying like my good baby.

MAAN(wiping his tears): Promise na you'll always love me the most?

Rano: Promise sweetheart.

Since that day Maan felt easy and happy knowing his Rano mom always loves him the most...

Sitting on the chair infront of the operation theatre Maan was constantly looking at the door of the room where his Rano mom was taken... After 1 and a half hours a Doctor came out of OT...

Doctor: Mr. Handa you are blessed with a baby girl but I'm sorry we were not able to save your wife's life.

Mohinder's face became expressionless...

Mohinder: NO!! She can't leave me. Do something doctor please...please...

He started crying uncontrolled...

He moved to Pratham...

Mohinder: Why did she do this yaar? I pleaded her not to risk her life for the baby. I asked her to abort this one, we could have had a baby another time. She had Maan na wat was the need to risk her life then? Usne Maan ke bare mein bhi nhin socha kya kahenge hum bachche se?

In their own whirlpool emotions nobody noticed the effect of Mohinder's words on the innocent mind of young Maan...

Maan was not able to get the depth of those words but his young mind was only able to conclude that the new baby was responsible for everyone's despair.

After sometime Rano's lifeless body came out on a stretcher. Maan ran to her...

MAAN: Rano mom kaisi ho ap? Rano mom!! Ap kuch kehti kyun nhin?

Gauri dragged Maan to herself...she didn't know what to tell him and how will he react...

Then only a nurse brought the baby to Mohinder...

Nurse: Mr. Khurana your baby daughter.

Mohinder: Dur karo isko meri nazron se. Iski wajah se meri Rano chali gai. Nafrat hai mujhe isse...

Gauri took the baby in her arms...

It went unnoticed by everyone but Mohinder's words got inscribed deep down in Maan's mind...

Maan's trail of memories was broken by the Air hostess' voice...

As Maan entered the premises of KM Geet felt his arrival. She came running down the stairs ...

As soon as he stepped at the hall's entrence she hugged him and giving a faint smile she collasped in his arms...
