Well theres been soo many instances where he's been there for her, buaji has been watching them, well esp him and is thinking something is going on, she must think that he likes her! Which he does- after her resignation he put in that effort to make her smile, got her the job in the first place (not payal) he got all touchy when she said she will still work at the Raizada's... it might not seem much but buaji has def noticed their interactions, and therefore concluded that shaym likes khushi.. not sure whether she thinks khushi likes him too

though...

Ohh and the scene when he first saw her making jalebi's he soo wanted to talk to her and buaji was like you go and try... and he ended up feeding her the jalebi... so she knows that shaym lieks her so why would she ask for payal's hand in marriage?

Ohh and not that I want it lolzzz but given the situations buaji would think in this way.
