Rajeev-Aamna back together
It will be a huge casting coup if Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff sign on for a show they recently shot the pilot episode for.
Sources say the two were spotted at a studio shooting for Hum Do Aur Hamare Nauh, produced by Rakesh Swami. The project is likely to go on air by late April.
Confirming this, Swami said, "Yes I have got Rajeev and Aamna on board. It's an emotional comedy that also has romance. Tinnu Anand, Sulbha Arya, Shubha Khote, Parikshit Sahani and others are also working with me."
How did he manage to convince Rajeev and Aamna to work together? "We first decided who to cast, then wrote the characters. I can't think of anyone other than Rajeev and Aamna to play these roles. In fact when I approached Rajeev, he initially refused, but after the story narration, immediately said yes. I think the role does full justice to what people want Rajeev to play."
Aamna's casting, however, took longer. "I was looking for a new girl, but didn't find anyone interesting. However, everyone around me said that if I had got Rajeev and the rest of the cast was perfect, I shouldn't compromise on the heroine. That is when I approached Aamna and did the narration with her as well.
She told me it was long time since she had worked with Rajeev, but also fell in love with the character, which is why I got her onboard as well."
When contacted, Rajeev agreed that he had shown an interest in the script. "Yes, I did shoot with Aamna. But it was just a pilot, we wanted to check how we look together playing those characters. I think it will take some time before I actually sign the contract and we start rolling.
" What made him say yes to the project? "It was the storyline, I think it's beautiful and really exciting." Aamna too admitted it was the script that got her interested. "I shot for it as I had some time that day.
I think it will take me some months before I actually commit myself to the show. As of now, we just did a pilot. I think it's a very different show and I like the story and my character."
A source close to the project added, "Rajeev and Aamna always make not only a commercially viable jodi, but also a very interesting one. Their fans have been rooting for them to come back and work together, which is why we are excited about the project."
