After Upen Patel's wrong number experience, it's Kasamh Se's Ram Kapoor to go through a similar situation. Ram, who plays Jai Walia in the show, was recently in a tight spot.
"We were shooting for a scene where I was required to phone another character. My assistant director, Vijay, used his mobile number for the scene, with "Jai Walia" flashing on the screen. I don't know how, but the audience registered that number and immediately started calling Vijay, after the episode was aired," says Ram.
The actor says Vijay had to keep his phone off to continue with his daily work. "Most of the calls he got were international. They wanted to talk to me and find out what was happening with my show and the track."
Fan family
Another incident happened recently, when Ram had gone out with a friend for dinner, at a restaurant.
"It was a London family who came up to me to say hello. While the mother had watched me in Ghar Ek Mandir, and knew that I had worked with my wife Gautami in it, her daughters were under the impression that Bani (Prachi Desai) was my wife in real life. Their mother had to explain to them that Gautami was my wife and I had worked with her in the past."
The number of calls and fan mail from abroad, surprises Ram. "I didn't know the show was so popular in the UK and in other countries. Recently, some people from Auckland landed up at my shoot, at Film City. It's
heartening to see such a response for my role," says Ram.
Despite shooting continuously for several hours, Ram tries to catch a movie whenever he has time. "I am looking forward to The Da Vinci Code. Even though I haven't read the book, I am excited about its release," he says.
