Yes, indeed the promos have had detrimental effects on the show. The M.E had good ratings, but i believe it could have been slightly more better if the promos did not have that Barkha factor in it. The M.E where Dev was declared the next RP, got much better ratings because the promos were positive.
I agree, no show will have all goody-goody things happening and everything won't be ever positive in any show. But the problem is the RaDev-Barkha marriage promo brought a sense of repetition for the audience. Even though nothing like that happened and RaDev got married finally, but the viewers did get an impression that probably now Barkha would become another Vishaka! The show was good, but the bad promo didnt encourage people to watch it. They assumed it must be the Vishaka track again!
Usually the other channels give good promos, but the episode in itself doesnt turn out that good. But still people come in expecting and that raises the TRP! Here they use the exactly opposite strategy and this leads to decreased TRP!
Then they rushed with the gharwali-baharwali promo. Why did they show that now? First there were no promos for important episodes when Rads exposed Rohan, DDjee exposed BB. These were highlights and yet did not get a good promotion. And when they did show one, it was of the gharwali-baharwali. Why? I mean, when they started showing the promo, the story hadn't even reach until that point. It was still dangling in air as to what would happen! But the promo suggested that things has been already decided in the story and that Barkha was going to be the pretending wife! The curiosity was killed because the promo made people sketch the story in their head already and people drifted away!
Well, actually in the story nothing was decided and Dev was protesting alone. They could have shown Dev's fight...how he was trying all alone to make everyone understand. This would have aroused the curiosity and people would come in to see as to what shall happen!
These people need to revise their promo dept. seriously!
