SRGMP usually has such a high standard of singing quality that I'm quite disappointed with the general quality of standards in EMET - esp among the females.
Where are the Dr. Neha's, Bela Sulakhes, Sanjeevanis of the past or even the Himanis, Nihiras of C-2005?
Among the EMET contestants, the first few females to exit were quite bad - (Raktima, Joyeeta, Sinchan etc), so lets not waste time even discussing about them.
But even among the last 5 standing, I found them to be shockingly bad!
Lets take them one by one:
1) Prajakta - Surprisingly, I hear she was a winner on SRGMP in the past. What has happened to her? She kept losing her sur on many many occasions. Maybe the stress of having to dance and sway along with the music was a bit too much for her and she lost concentration?
2) Twinkle - I had found her to be very efficient in C-2005. Even in some of the first few episodes of EMET, she was reasonably good. But in the last 3-4 weeks, her voice sounded completely tired and feeble. There was just no life in her voice. Listen carefully and you will realise what I'm saying. I wonder if anyone noticed.
3) Sanchali - She has been mediocre from the very beginning. But in front of Rajeev, who is really really bad, she comes across as being very competent. Her voice quality is quite substandard and she loses her sur very often.
4) Ujjaini - This one is a real shocker. Ujjaini was among my favorites in C-2005. Even in the first few episodes of EMET, she was outstanding. But I dont know what has happened to her in the last 3-4 episodes (looks like she and Twinkle went out together to eat something!). She keeps losing her sur at the higher notes and is just not able to cope up. Her face too looks very strained at the slightest rise in pitch. Aishwarya, who was below her standard when the show began, has started to look the better of the two now! Just watch the last 2 episodes and see what I mean!
5) Banjyotsna - This one is a dark horse. When she started out, she was quite bad. As Leslie Lewis kept commenting, she used to sing with her inner voice. She never let her voice come out freely and fully. I used to pity poor Sharib who looked very very good. But in the past 3-4 weeks, Banjo has started to look good and sound good. Even the GGs pointed that out. Ever since she sang that Chaiya chaiya, she has realised her true calibre!
Its strange - the approximate time when Twinkle and Ujjaini started to deteriorate was the same as when Banjo started to improve!
