Aishwarya Rai flies back to Mumbai for a day to celebrate mother Vrinda's birthday and brother Aditya's wedding anniversary

Aishwarya Rai is known to be a complete home-bird and her family comes first on her priority list. Family oriented as she is, Rai could obviously not miss mum Vrinda's birthday and flew down especially from Chennai to be with her yesterday.
On Tuesday it was double-celebration time in the Rai household. Not only was it Aishwarya's mother's birthday but also her brother's marriage anniversary. It was an occasion that the actress just couldn't afford to miss.
Rai says, "I always prioritise my family above everything and everyone else. When all seems lost it's your family that stands by you."
Rai came to Mumbai from Cannes to spend barely 24 hours with her family. She could've gone straight to Chennai to join Mani Ratnam's unit but chose not to and spent time with her family instead. "Whatever little time I get from my work between schedules, I'd like to spend with my family," she says.
Incidentally, Rani Mukherjee is another family-oriented Bollywood actress. She gave up the pleasure of representing her film Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna in Cannes with Karan Johar to stay home with her newly-born nephew.
