rituparna... please don't go... i like how you researched into this whole thing and like you, possible cancellation for this show does not sit well with me either.

why don't you come to our site and share your thoughts with othr members who are as passionate about geet as you are. it's a small group but has a great atmosphere.. i, along with yourslf, can spread the word together... ?

as one of our members said, we have a month to get our messages across... maybe if we can create a tsunami or avalanche regarding how much we want want this show to stay and offer them possible sources of new stories, then maybe they will have no other option but to listen to us?

I really liked your post... but whenever any show gets extension the channel notifies it... & it happens usually due to consistent bad performance & the show's inability to catch the eyeballs... but in this case the show is established one & the interest of viewers is back... so channel knows that they can still manipulate the situation.
@ weepy: I agree with your point as well that right now we don't know the target audience of the channel post revamp & we are also not aware of the measures which the channel will be taking up to broaden its reach... If we accept the fact that guju shows do better on tv that would be totally wrong... because some have failed to do so ... & the new programming strategies of popular channels like star plus & colors show that every channel is targeting different set of audience across India... so they have shows based in parts of north india & gujrat & even in bengal... Going by that all I can say is it would be better if channel retains Geet as it would be turned into a family drama post revamp (whether they go ahead with RC track or make a sequel of the show...) they won't lose the old audience ...

Okay guys, after days of depression, have decided to do something constructive, suggest story threads for PH which is seemingly running out of ideas to continue our show.

All your points are so well reasoned. I am agreeing with all. I was also with this show from very beginning and have never felt so loyal to any regular tv serial; there was just something so unique and beautiful about this show especially once Gurmeet entered and their love story began. But all good and beautiful things one day end...we must be grateful for all the happy hours they gave us working so hard. I think these leads must also need some rest time and some time to sort out their lives - they are shooting so many hours they must just live eat sleep and think GHSP almost every waking moment. But what a fun ride it has been, hai na? And what beautiful acting we have seen - I would watch Gurmeet and Drashti in almost anything after this, just to appreciate their talents. The only thing I most greatly wish ism as you say, for DVD. That would be the best thing the PH could give us fans. Thanks for great post.

rituparna, create an account on FB... and this is coming from someone who dislikes social networking sites with a passion! trust me, when i decided to do this petition seriously, i realised that the only way i could reach our to those people is through facebook. geet fans are really active here... infact it's either india forums or facebook and if you have both.. then you can really get your points across. i didn't have a FB account either and i made one just for this petition. you don't have to put your entire life story... just make a simple one and as a main segment, put all your ideas there... that way, you can join our page and other pages and put your ideas across for everyone to see. the idea you already shared has alot of potential... if given to a creative team, they can do wonders with it!

we are handing our petition to the channel and production house on the 7th september. basically everyone has till then to get as many signatures and fanpage likes as we can and then rest is in babaji's hands i guess...

@misty85 - Thank you and exactly! The channel itself needs to clarify exactly what kind of audience they want their channel to target. Personally I didn't think Star One needed a revamp. Having a youth channel is great. They needed to have more youth related shows... more youth oriented shows. Nowadays there are some absolutely pointless serials on TV... I am not going to name any but BY GOD... in those serials, literally for 22minute or half hour NOTHING SIGNIFICANCE HAPPENS... infact NOTHING AT ALL HAPPENS!!!! So why are those serials on air and why does shows like GHSP has articles of it going off air floating around here there and everywhere.

When I heard the name Star Desh, I thought well if there is one serial that will stay, it's Dhoond Legi Manzil Hamein... coz it deals with Desh related issues. I also thought that maybe Star Desh will have serials like Shanti and Viruddh... coz they too deals with Desh-ish related topics. But how wrong was I?! I just can't fathom how a channel, who got this one serial which seem to have a huge universal appeal amongst it's fans, take that information so lightly and not give it the proper importance and attention that it deserves.

But then a great example comes to mind. There is a show in US called Fringe and it is shown in one of the most volatile networks - Fox. The show doesn't garner the TRPs that other shows do, it is not your typical action/SciFi/mystery show, the show's viewing times were changed left, right and centre, it even got pushed into a really sucky time schedule... yet it has such a strong and loyal fan base and it was only because of that factor, that the show was renewed for another season.

Surely, we are not stupid that we don't understand the concept of "all shows do come to an end"... We just don't understand how can a show end when it's showing some of it's best storyline and possibly be on it's peak again?!
