I too think it is a possibility that the PH has been forced to compromise, in order to test the show out for the new channel, and it didn't pan out. We cannot continue to blame them, or anyone for all the rumours and strife. I think you have a point when you say we should reconcile ourselves to the possibility of the show ending. Then if it all turns out to be a rumour, the extension of the show will, of course, make us doubly happy but if it does turn out to be true then we can thoroughly enjoy what remaining story we have and bid the show adieu, knowing that we savoured each moment we had it!

It's nice to see a rational conversation to this topic instead of a full fledge bashing-fest!

I am from UK and I have no idea how TV industry works in India. Far as I know, normally when a series starts or ends or even gets renewed, it is notified by the official channel not long after the season is shown or begins. There is a renewal or cancellation period of shows where all the channels and production houses informs the fans of the longevity or their shows. However, serials in India, do not have seasons... I believe very few serials actually did. Alot of media channels come up with their "sources" and writes up what they feel and in the end the story does a complete 360!

I don't know why but I still feel a tad bit hopeful about GHSP staying even after StarOne transforms into StarDesh. Call this occupational hazard, but there are some specific words that stood out for me. Right after the article came out, alot of people called the channel and they refuted the article saying it is all rumours, GHSP is not ending and that the there are talks going on of a possible extension and that they are 100% certain of achieving that extension. It made me think that maybe the show's contract is until October and this article was produced to see the reaction of us fans, towards our show.

It is like being in a football transfer season; one wonders whether the player will go to another club and all sorts of stuff crops up in media until the player signs a renewed contact!

I don't know what the motto of StarDesh is, or what kind of programmes they will show and so far there seems to be only 1 serial that confirmed to being shown on StarDesh - and that too seemed like after alot of hard work! Like you pointed out some great points about StarDesh - it does makes me wonder how GHSP will fit in. But then I also wonder - since there is no cancellation articles on the vampire show (I honestly can never remember the name of the show) - how would that fit into a channel that seems to be dealing with the regional language aspects. Surely there can't be a Gujrati vampire and a Bengali werewolf?!

I am not a fan of reincarnations either but then again I haver never seen such a fantastic lead on Indian TV either. I always thought that the one of the big reasons why this show still exists, is because of these two actors (DD + GC) otherwise it probably would have been cancelled long ago! Not to mention, this show has been unpredictable for a while. Fans thought something and the show surprised us with something very different which we fans accepted with open arms, always!

I am not saying this to make myself or anyone feel better or give false hope. I am a realist... but its just these things are swimming in my head and makes me think that there might be a happy ending for all us fans?! Nevertheless, great topic rituparna!

rituparna... please don't go... i like how you researched into this whole thing and like you, possible cancellation for this show does not sit well with me either.

why don't you come to our site and share your thoughts with othr members who are as passionate about geet as you are. it's a small group but has a great atmosphere.. i, along with yourslf, can spread the word together... ?

as one of our members said, we have a month to get our messages across... maybe if we can create a tsunami or avalanche regarding how much we want want this show to stay and offer them possible sources of new stories, then maybe they will have no other option but to listen to us?

Very well said Rituparna👏...me too feel that GHSP is actually heading towards its end...see everybody who is asked this question including Gurti...say they dont have any official information...nobody completely deny that no its not ending...so smartly trying to put that the unofficial news leak is very much close to reality...

being a die-hard GHSP/Maaneet /Gurti fan its not easy to accept it...but yes I hv a strong intuition that its going off air...😭

better we stop thinking over it...as whatever we do...we cant control it...its a corporate decision...and they are not altered for requests😔 and if the channel is undergoing makeover then they are not going to give special favors to any PH...its not going to increase their revenue..

so I think that... see if not today it will end next year...but one thing is for sure its not staying forever with us...so lets be supportive fans...accept the end with open hands...may be some days later we can, we can work out something to thank every person of GHSP team...and make it reach to them through various sources so that the team which gave us a show like GHSP will always remember that they had such a tremendous fan base both on TV and on internet...hopefully some people will agree to what I am trying to say😊

and yes DVD is something worth the efforts coz even I will watch GHSP at the age of 70. 😃
