Part 2 :

Nupur felt a little nervous and prayed hard so that she doesn't have to listen to the same cold voice she had been listening to in recent times. She said after Mayank having picked up the phone, "Hello Mayank" her voive was soft without the command in it that he was now getting used to.

He tried to return the greetings in soft voice too wondering about her expression when she had started speaking, he missed her changing reactions and tones he knew it but felt it strongly just now when he heard her voice and replied as if asking, "Haan'bolo Nupur"

Nupur flt herself go teary eyed on hearing her name from his raw coarse yet soft voice. She cursed the situation which had made them fall apart from each other and yet wanting to stick to just stick to each other with expectations. Nupur wiped her eyes and mind thinking of her determined decision that she had made and spoke trying to hide her tears, "Mayank'who tumhe yaad hai naa'kal who Varun is gonna come so'would you'" she felt her throat go soar as her stable voice failed to lead her when she so miserably felt the need for an assurance from him and that was not limited to the present situation anymore. She needed him and very bad but she just couldn't give herself the authority to plead straight away because of the fact that he had misunderstood her too, he was right with his feelings but not with his judgement of her and she just couldn't give in to him just like that to later accept his accuse. She would have to give time to let the things settle before she acted to make it well but before all that, he was required to agree to her right now and she knew that he would never deny for this one, she knew him well to think so strong about this.

She repeated with hopes in her voice, "Would you -.."

Mayank cut her short in his plain and straight voice, he tried hard not to bring in his sharp tone for now, "Haan'I'll be there till dinner time'you may not need to get tensed in this issue from my side'see you then!" he waited for her to say "Okay and kept the phone down, a little angry and frustrated.

Didn't she know him already to have asked him this way, wasn't this what he always wanted and repeatedly said so too. All these 10 years of knowing him had had left her with still no clue about what his desires and thinking are all about. And the worst thing that made him angry was the fact that her voice was soft because she wanted to ask him about his decision as if asking a favour and not coz she wanted to talk to him. He missed her sweet voice to him which made him earlier feel that she loved him and missed him and needed him but now it was reduced to only such situations where she couldn't do without him. Why didn't need him every other thing that she wanted him in earlier, what had actually distanced him, he knew it was not her love that had vanished completely but her stance towards him had certainly changed. It was as though she no more needed him for herself and just to overcome the bounded things she was left with no other option for. He hated this fact and also that he couldn't do anything about it, how was he supposed to make her fall in love with him again, what had he done wrong and why had she reacted with him and Varun so strongly in the way she did. He didn't like the return of her stubborn attitude.

10 years back'.

Nupur was new to the college, having oddly joined the college in the last year; she was no alien to people for long. She was already friends with many in just a week of her entrance.

She was sitting with her new set of friends in the cafetaria of college, playing truth or dare when she had chosen to dare and she was shown a guy being pointed and heard about him, "He is one of a kind. Extremely handsome and charming, but no one seems to be charming enough to him to even be eligible for his friendship easily. Intelligent but aloof sorts...you know...'I have my own attitude to style me' kinda...can you make him say to you 'friends'...ya"

Nupur took the challenge in her stride and moved towards him with confidence but feared he may even tun out to be weird or unmannerly. She had even thought of what if he belongs to a terrorist gang or so, as she had seen in movies, those silent type secret agents.

With confidence glancing out from her face and praying in heart so that God saved her face, she headed towards him and politely asked him as if asking a favour, "Hello'my name is Nupur Bhushan...mere friends wahan..."she pointed in their direction and continued, "We are playing truth and dare and they have asked me to make friends with you..."

She was cut short by Mayank who looked at her amused and with a smirk replied, "Toh!...see Miss. Whatever...its not my problem" and he went back to the book he was immersed in.

Nupur tried to bend a little and spoke in a low voice, "Dekho'don't be my friend that doesn't even matter...can you please just smile at them or shake hands with me...I guess that will do it."

Mayank chuckled and said, "And why would I do that?"

Nupur tried to smile while she suggested, "Because you want to...haina...I mean you would want to help me"

Mayank replied stiffly smiling, "No!...am an honest guy and I only say what I actually mean to"

Nupur was now irritated but was enjoying his challenge more than her friends' and so pulling a chair in front of him she sat down and asked with a firm voice, "So are so honest hmm...so tell me...Uhhh atleast 5 things about you...Honestly"

Mayank was amazed at the audacity of Nupur to sit across him excusing herself and ask him so straight forwardly, he liked her way of handling things, something new to him and a challenge too, besides she looked very naturally beautiful with her delicate yet strong personalty. She had sparks in her eyes and face which intrigued him even more. He replied back, "Honestly, I think you are intervening a little too much"

Nupur was left open mouthed and said, "Now that's not even close to politeness, anyways I was just interested in how different people can be here and why was it so difficult for anyone around to be worth your friendship but anyways...not knowing all that is still a great option for me'" and she moved towards her own friends who looked at her inquisitively as she approached them when she was called back by Mayank, "Nupur" she looked back surprised and looked at her friends who were waiting to see more when Mayank waved at Nupur and said, "Hey!"

Nupur gave him a wide smile and murmured a 'Thanks' to him before he broke eye contact with her with a dazzlingly handsome smile and went back to his book which he had been so keenly reading.
