Okay time for weekend musing - I didn't want to miss this weekend, even if its officially a day or so to last - before the finale ME tomorrow.
Without digressing.

Quiz time: What's common to JK Rowling's HP series and Gulaal - the show -?
.
.
.
Odd question? Not really. The answer is names. I personally have a huge thing for fiction with thoughtful names that have underlying ground work - such that the names actually fit the characters as the characters fit into the plot's scheme of things. There is separate HP book, an entire book - which is all about why the streets, courses, characters, places, and of course spells, in HP series have the names - proper nouns - that they do.
Gulaal doesn't go to the extent of street and city names maybe - unless its purely my barely average Hindi vocab that keeps me from understanding - but some character names sure fit the entire plot, when one looks at things in retrospect.
Of course, we've always found the implicit interlink between the names Gulaal and Kesar. Both not just colors - but colors that arise from the same section of the spectrum, with comparable frequencies and wavelengths, colors that in a sense complement each other. Yes, Gulaal very typically also means the holi color - but it can just mean the color Gulaal. And Kesar is the saffron of course. Not just a color, but a flavoring ingredient in food.
Something like the characters of Kesar and Gulaal - each with their own distinct traits, yet each with that extremely overlapping common 'spectrum' of qualities to share.
Then there is Vasant. Spring? A very apt name, when you think of the life span of this character in the show. A short lived season, which aims at drawing away the melancholy and dreary winds of winter - pleasant, fragrant, colorful, a harbinger of new life! Spring is the most cherished of seasons - when one thinks of a fresh start. A beautiful fresh start - where everything is just perfect. Vasant has been a character like that. A character which comes to an end too soon, but not before everyone has had a chance to experience its sheer bliss, not before everyone has been given that wishful idea of seeking its return - this way or that.
To me - Kesar has been more like the Fall. A contrast to spring in definition - yet sharing some drastic commons. The Fall (or Autumn) is beautiful in an unorthodox manner. It may be an acquired beauty for many - just like Kesar's character is shown to be someone who takes his time making that space for himself in people's heart, even though he has officially been the cherished baby of the house. Yet in being beautiful, Fall retains its own character - does not emulate Spring. Fall comes after bearing the brunt of hot scorching summers - just like Kesar undergoes his decade of burning inside - and its not fresh or green or new life like in typical sense ... but it has its own colors - interesting, the colors are shades of ochre - a key color in the base being saffron aka Kesar.
And again - there is Dushyant. In literal meaning, the end of 'dusht' - or evil. How true of the character it depicts! In the name of reform, we have seen much evolution in characters, over time, and especially over the last couple weeks. But really Dushyant has been personification of his name - from being the darkest character in its extent of exuding evil aura - to becoming a near saint martyr of kind. If one thinks of it - his name should always have been indication of how his character would go - in vague outlines. But then, its not everyday that one expects such thought given to 'names' of characters on Indian TV... or even TV in general. We've loved a show which is different like that for a reason!
Anyway - then there is Talli of course. I have not a clue in the world what her names means, or what the meaning signifies. But is anyone really surprised her name is... well, meaningless?! Lol, pun intended, but not unkindly 😆 I suppose in a way it makes sense that she has a random name like that 😆
And that's me with names for now. Unless anyone has any more to add from the show, given, as I confessed, my only functional vocab level in Hindi - maybe I'm missing the same idea for other names? Please share if you know!
But more explicitly, here's what this thread is about. Think about one thing very unique and becoming of this show that appeals to you. Nothing typically discussed already about its characters and story line - but you know... something that we all sort of see and appreciate in the back of our mind, but don't often get around to mentioning. Share why a trivial nothing is actually significant something to you, in terms of its subtle ways of living up to the standard of the show. I personally have a thing for names, like I said - so that's what I mentioned.
Think hard - and do chip in. This is really the last active weekend on the forum in the airing of the show... and we all have something of 24-36 hours to pass before the finale anyway!
So long,
JZee

Noticed my font and formatting is back?! 😎 Yayyy - guess who got her computer back?! 😃 Well, for a grace period of some hours anyway... I had to use all the debating skill and means in the world, but I was showed Kesar like dedication and Gulaal like bull headed-ness to the cause 😆
AND - so... I did a quick weekend whip as well!!! Like come on - can you imagine getting a computer after a week of living in the stone age?! So yeh. Scroll down for that - enjoy, and don't forget reviews!
