Imran Khan is not your typical Bollywood hero. He comes from a film family, but isn't very filmi. He didn't watch too many Hindi films while growing up. The Delhi Belly actor talks about what he admires about the Khan triumvirate in Bollywood and his next film,Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
Shah Rukh Khan
I love Shah Rukh Khan's energy. I think it is unmatched. You see many actors on the screen who sleepwalk through their roles, and you want to smack them and wake them up. SRK, no matter what he does, is always energetic, and that shows on screen. It's amazing!
Salman Khan
I think Salman Khan's charisma makes him tick. His name is enough to sell a film, and people go to see it without caring what it is about or its genre. Even the heroine doesn't matter. The poster of Ready only had his face in the foreground, and everything else was in the background. Ready for romance, Ready for action, andReady for comedy. The film worked because of Salman.
Aamir Khan
Aamir knows what will work with audiences, and how to make things work. He knows what needs to be modified, and how to present things in ways that will click with audiences. He has a hold on the pulse of the audience. I don't think this sense can be acquired. Of course, he re-invents himself with each film, and believes in what he is doing.
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
The film is an over-the-top comedy. There is something known as the great Indian kalti, where brides and grooms are jilted at the altar. No one cares about what happens to them. In Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, my character goes looking for a bride for his brother, whom he calls Bhaisaab. He falls in love with the girl he has found for his brother. However, the girl and the boy don't want to run away. So, they make a plan so that everybody has a happy ending. The film is a situational comedy, and is very funny. Abbas Ali Zafar, our director, has a terrific sense of humour. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is in the genre of Chupke Chupke.
