Dhurandhar has rewritten the record books and redefined the ceiling for Hindi cinema in India. The Aditya Dhar directorial has stormed theatres across the country, pulling crowds in unprecedented numbers and outperforming recent juggernauts such as Pathaan, Jawan and Chhaava. From packed shows to roaring applause, the film has emerged as a cultural moment rather than just another release. Critics have praised its scale and storytelling, while audiences have embraced its immersive world, turning it into the most successful Hindi film ever witnessed on home soil.

The film success also brings back an old and revealing comment from Aditya's wife, actress Yami Gautam, who knew long before release that Dhurandhar was something special. Speaking ahead of the film arrival in cinemas, Yami openly shared her reaction to the script and how deeply it impressed her, even sparking a playful sense of longing to be part of the project. “When I read his next script, I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I was a guy. The script is so brilliant. It’s such an amazing world,” she had told News18, referring to the Ranveer Singh led spectacle.

While her admiration for the film was clear, Yami was equally firm about maintaining professional distance from her husband work. She emphasized that personal relationships never interfere with casting or creative choices. “Regardless, I don’t have that expectation. We respect that professional line. I don’t think that line should be blurred. We’re very clear about it,” she had said. She further explained that the understanding between them was established early on and remains intact to this day. “If he feels that somebody else is a better fit for a part that he’s writing, I would be absolutely fine with it. This understanding was there since the very beginning.

Although Yami did not appear on screen in Dhurandhar, her presence was felt in a quieter way. Aditya Dhar acknowledged her support in the film credits, offering a note of gratitude that reflected their mutual respect. As Dhurandhar continues its historic run, the story behind the scenes adds another layer to a film that is already being remembered as a landmark in Hindi cinema.
