So I've noticed that everyone in the family is pretty much accustomed to the Hindu lifestyle but Nimmi somehow seems to be punjabi.

???

What's up with that?
I wanna know how the always disciplined mother got a punjabi-type bahu

Anyone that can explain?

I think they talked about it in the first few episodes that Nimmi was a childhood friend/neighbour that used to come to the house and was well-liked by the Kaushik family. So, Bhindeshwari has known her for a long time

Yeah the Mr and Mrs. Kaushik have known her since childhood and Bittu was her friend she used to play with so i presume hers was the easiest marriage to fix, obstacle free.
