Sorry again because of work a short version of my thoughts and only going to talk about the interesting bits'
Misti, your thoughts are very interesting. Today's episode was interesting but it depends on how it goes in the future. They were giving hints but again they have a tendency to dumb down. The good parts were that today at last they gave some dialogues to Dev and Radhika and some meaningful scenes.
Radhika as usual is being shouted at by Shanti (I know she is shouting all the time but what she is saying is actually true regarding who is Radhikas husband and who is not, having multiple husbands, then what sort of sanskars does she have'the same questions society will also have regarding Radhika'.Shanti is practical, so she is worrying about money and she always has been jealous of Radhika'she is angry because even after going against societies rules, Radhika is getting love, honour and support from the in laws and from Mansaram)''.
Shanti's shouting is more because of her jealousy of Radhika. But she was right and these questions are coming in the future. So far PF is keeping this engagement within family and friends (?) and doesn't seem as if the religious leaders are aware of it yet. But the secret should be out after the engagement. If people are aware that Rohan is thrown out of the house, then they would know that Radhika's marriage to Rohan did not happen and she is now getting married to his brother Dev. So questions about Radhika's character are bound to arise after the formal engagement.
Mansaram as usual comes and in hhis own way tries to control but being meeker compared to his wife, cannot do much. When the boy comes to tell Radhika that there is a call from the PCO booth, everyone realizes who the call is from and Shanti gets furious'but Mansaram sends Radhika who true to form hesitates'.and is in a off mood when talking to Dev. 'Dev guesses that something is wrong and Radhika avoids answering him but as soon as she gets to know that the engagement has been fixed for day after tomorrow. She becomes ok. She forgets all the shouting and is now happy. This is Radhika as we know her, she gets hurt, she gets disappointed but she also has the ability to bounce back and not to let disappointments and sadness affect the happy moments of her life. She knows how to smile and enjoy life in the midst of all the problems. She soon starts laughing and joking with Dev. Later on at night when she goes to her father to give him water, her father tells her that by saying the truth she has made her life more difficult'..well the path of truth is not a path of roses, it is usually the difficult path to walk on but at the end it usually turns out to be the right one. Radhika also returns that by saying if we have faith in God then we will leave peacefully, whatever will happen will happen. Few weeks back Mansaram's main thought was that Radhika's action in running away with Dev has brought her down in his eyes but now after knowing the truth, today he said that he is proud of her and that she should not mind what Shanti was saying. Well she did mind for some time but news of her engagement, drove away those thoughts from Radhikas mind. Then Radhika tells him about the engagement being fixed for day after tomorrow and Mansaram gets works up but she also managed to calm him down saying that Padma will be coming the next day, then he can talk with her and decide.
I liked the first scene from Shanti shouting, Chanda feeling satisfied as usual at Shanti's taunts, Mansa trying to protect Radhika but being a weaker character quietens down. Then the whole conversation of Dev and Radhika. After a long time, they showed a connection between these two (except for that scene last week when Dev came in support of Radhiak) where Dev guesses that Radhika wasn't happy and told her that he wants to get married as soon as possible as he is worried about Radhika staying at Rawal. Radhika not exactly denying that she was upset but then bouncing back with happiness at the thought of Dev coming to meet her and that engagement was going to happen. Liked Radhika a lot in this scene as it was true to her character. Actually, Dev, Radhika and the entire Mansa family was very consistent in this scene. So this was the best scene.
Barkha is now creeping me out''..she is using psychological torture on a man who is seriously ill. I know Rohan has done loads of stuff, but as I have said before being related to the medical field, a person will think twice before doing all what Barkha is doing to Rohan. She wants Rohan to feel the same helplessness that he enforced on Radhika and Dev. She also brought Rohan to the same coattge to drive the point more strongly to him (From Rohans attitude it does not seem that he repents his actions). She is intensely loyal to Radhika unitl now''I hope she maintains this loyalty and love for Radhika, otherwise she might be a dangerous opponent. Actually cannot understand whether she is extremely childish who does not understand the seriousness of what she is doing or whether she is highly vindictive who won't have any qualms to attack someone who might be in a weakened state.
Barkha is coming out to be as big of a psycho as Rohan. Yes, she is supposedly doing it for Radhika. But then Rohan had his reasons too. In his own way, he was convinced that he was desperately in love with Radhika. He also expressed his regrets that his best friend is becoming his biggest enemy and he was doing it out of utmost regret (before the second wedding). So each psycho has a very valid reason (in their mind), but the point is that take advantage of somebody's weakness.
Rohan took advantage of Dev's weakness (for the family because he was obligated and for him because Dev considered him his best friend) and then took advantage of Radhika's weakness for Dev in making them dance to his tunes. Barkha is doing the same thing. Rohan did it because he "loved" Radhika and Barkha is doing it because she "loves" Radhika. Never mind that Radhika's wishes were never included in either Rohan's or Barkha's plans and both complained and would complain that Radhika wasn't valuing their love. So what happens when Barkha convinces herself that she is now in "love" with Dev. Then will she do whatever she can to make sure that nobody comes in her way. So will she harm her best friend Radhika for that?
Anyway, they are giving big hints of Barkha turning negative at this point. Dev underestimated Rohan and didn't really understand him. Same is happening with Radhika. She hasn't understood Barkha's obsession either. On top of that, both Dev and Radhika feel extremely obligated to Barkha. But creatives again better not show that Radhika decides to give up Dev and same for Dev. So if they are consistent with Dev and Radhika's characters, both revolt when it comes to losing each other. It was true for Radhika and it should be true for Dev.
But again another interesting hint was that Mansa did tell Radhika about her path being difficult because she chose the path of truth. Well, according to that path, Radhika can not give up Dev as she is his true wife or deceive him by sending somebody in her place. She would have to stay with him and fight their battles for the truth.
Then next day adaji is ok'..I mean he is speaking normally (?)
Yeah, Dadaji seems to have recovered completely. Now if that is the case, then have to say that Barkha's contribution is minimum here and it is a miracle due to Radhika. So what is the need for Barkha who is out of the home all the time anyway?
''and badi bahu wants to go with Padma to talk about the engagement, dadaji refuses but Padma initially says that let badi bahu cme because in all these wedding matters it is good if they have a married woman with them, because that is a good omen (so is her insecurities again raising its head)'
This was interesting. For the roka ceremony, she didn't even take Mohini and now she wants BB. Insecure Padma makes more sense to me.
dadaji says that Mohini is there'..then Padma looks at badi bahu and says that let what is happening in the family be in the family, it's better not to let others know about it (well Padma has been like that, if she could say two weeks back that why did dadaji bring the past out like this, she would have lived compromising with the truth, then her being wary of others coming to know further bad things in the family is also ok with her characterization for me).
Padma believes in hiding things and making it look as if there are no problems. What else she would do in the future? Chaya seems to be more normal of all DILs except for that sacrificing nature she has given to Dev too.
Dev wants to go to Barkha's cottage (where Rohan is present) to get the kanhas idol because Radhika wanted it and Padma says that she will come with him and then they can go to Rawal and the others can come later in a another car. In the car, Padma starts talking about Mansarams' family and they will have to spend money when they cannot afford '''..Rohan's name spills out from Padma (unintentionally?) and then both Padma and Dev look at each other awkwardly (so the underlying tension is still there?)'''then at the cottage Padma hesitates to go in and Dev says that he knows that Rohan has done loads of wrong stuff but if he acknowledges his mistake then will Padma accept him? (Is this Dev's guilt speaking, is he looking for answers from Padma whether she will forgive Rohan because in some way Dev expects her to forgive Rohan or is it something else).
Here, it seemed to me that Padma manipulated Dev. Now I don't want Dev to forgive Rohan (I hope he is not hinting at that) because being Dev he can forgive Rohan for what he did to him (Dev) but not what he did to Radhika. Also, I don't believe that it would be in character for Radhika to forgive Rohan. She cannot forgive somebody like Rohan who tormented Dev so much and tried to kill him numerous times.
But Padma has a different definition of forgiveness when it comes to Dev and Rohan. She wanted to punish Dev severely for kidnapping Radhika and for what he did to Rohan. She was even ok that Rohan was going to kill him and did shoot him. She cursed him heavily and not once stated that she wanted to confirm with Dev that he did what he did. But with Rohan, she wants to forgive him as long as he states that he made a mistake. Now why wouldn't a liar like Rohan say something like that? He did say it to Dev once.
I did like the awkwardness between Dev and Padma here. They were never close and even now their relationship seems to be forged out of Dev's guilt and Padma's insecurity. There is some pale love between them but neither Dev considers her his mother (regardless of what he says) nor does Padma considers Dev her son. Even after the conversation in the car, she stopped when she came out of the car. Dev was going ahead but then realized that Padma was miserable about Rohan. So it seemed as if Dev came back and confirmed with Padma that she would forgive Rohan if he came back. So no punishment for him for doing so much to Dev (trying to kill him three times and then trying to humiliate him publicly) and Radhika (trying to keep her forcibly as his wife and wanting to rape her). All Rohan has to do is ask for forgiveness and state that he realized his mistakes. So we audience are supposed to think that Padma is a Yasoda maiya who treated Dev like her real son. What rubbish?
I think Dev would allow Rohan to come back home out of his misplaced guilt. Anyway, this is more interesting to me that Rohan comes because Padma has taken advantage of Dev's guilt feelings rather than because Dev or Dadaji forgave him. I want to see Radhika here to be the voice of reason (who doesn't trust Rohan at all) who is not happy at this outcome and remains vigilant against Rohan.
Anyway today was an episode of mixed messages''hints have been given'.but I will wait for them to show more.
