Part 136

Yeshpal was sitting quietly on a chair while Sushma was arguing with Rohini for staying back in the hospital. Time ticked by and Rohini stood silent in front of Sushma, losing the battle.

Yeshpal wiping off the sweat from his forehead, looked at the door side as he felt the movements. Seeing the face at the door he slowly stood, and then tried to take away his eyes to the empty space on his side with a weak try to hide his discomfort.

Surender walking near to his babuji: so you tried to hide this from all of us.

Sushma and Rohini looked at the scene in wonder

Suchi: now there is no more hidings babuji, we want this to be done right away. No more excuses.

Yeshpal looked at their face as if asking for one more chance for him to explain, as if the presence of MR. Pandey in front tied his tongue.

Surender just nodded his head in disagrement.

Suchi: I have seen the test result babuji, let's go.

Yeshpal looked at Sushma, whom by then was listening to Mohan.

Sushma walked near: why did you hide it from me? I don't know what they are trying to tell me babuji, but I know you need whatever they are saying. Babuji, please don't leave me alone.

Yeshpal: so only I didn't listen to them beta, I don't want to leave you alone.

Sushma: I can tolerate few days of loneliness but not for long

Yeshpal: I know beta, what if I never come back from that table

Sushma looked at her babuji's face with flushed face

Yeshpal: I thought atleast if I can get one or two days extra without doing it, I prefered that so that I can be with you all, with my family.

Dev coming near: Dadaji, we all are here, we won't let buva be alone, and we want you to listen to the doctor, please

Yeshpal looked at his grandson's face unbelievably

Dev: I also thought many times why you didn't come to see Chudki? Now I have the answer, you tried to hide from Dr. Pandey ,right?. And this time you forgot yourself and came with buva and then you got caught. Now we all know and you don't have any other options left, lets move on.

Time passed by. Yeshpal just followed whatever others asked him to. He looked at his grandson's face when the nurse draw those blood form his vein for the lab tests. He was able to see that sparkle of determination in Dev's eyes.

As the time neared , dev went near Dadaji and said softly: don't worry, you may be old, but you are not weak. Now buva is not alone, I am there for her, and it is my word for my dadaji. Till you come back to your normal self, I will take care of everything. Regarding the villagers issue, i know few things, i will take care fo that if they need anything during your rest time. Trust me, you are going to come back to see everyone and everything intact, and to be with your daughter in that darkness.

Dadaji could easily see the determination in his words, his words are not to sooth this old man's mind, but to give more strength to face it, giving that hope of seeing everything in shape broght a smile on dadaji's face.

Dev: ye hui na bath. I will be waiting for you here and I will see this smile on your face again.

Soon he was rolled down to the theater. They stood outisde waiting, Sushma trying to absorb everything in. Suchi and Rohini sat with her. Dev made that call to Radhika and made sure all well back home. She prayed for her dadaji, holding her angel in her arms. Dadi sat silently looking at the clearing sky at the horizon.

Dadi: : Radhika, today I wish that strange man to pass by singing that song, begging the rain God to listen to his plea and he can see that peacock dancing with happiness.

Radhika just listened to her dadi looking at the outside darkness.

Time passed placing its mark and the night gave away space for the light to spread around and the light allowed the darkness to give the living things to rest well back in home. Few days passed quick, and Dev kept everything intact as he promised to his dadaji, and Sammy filled his abscene back in Delhi, keeping the the time to go at its pace.

Dev followed Dr. Prakash'a advice and did the tests he recommended for Sushma and followed his instructions, while dadaji was all settled back in haweli with extra added help around .

Surender and Suchi were extremly busy with things happening around them and their professional responsibilities. Lechu went in bewteen everywhere and Sammy became more than a future damad to a son for the Bhatt family.

Sammy was driving the car, and his dad was talking about how things turned around within few days back in chandenpur while his mom was enjoying the scenery.

They were welcomed at the door step by the Varma's . Sammy looked around the deconrations, and then soon be asked to serve the juice for the guests by Rohini. He did that happily while admiring his Lechu running aorund with that smily face and talking with the guests as a responsible buva.

"Dev, come here"

Dev looked at his dadaji

Yeshpal:: bring Chudki here, how long you are making me to wait to see the star of the day, see people are asking and let me have the previlage to introduce my great grand kid to the world.

Dev with smile: ji Dadaji

He looked around and found everyone of his near ones busy, so he went upstairs to get his Angel.

As he stepped into his room, he found Radhika dressing up his little one, and his little princess was in a playing mood.

Dev walked in with excitement: is she awke!

Radhika talked in wonderment to her little one: see now your papa is here, you know what, your papa was so curious to see you and was so eager to take you in his arms, but look at him, he is running around with so many things around that he don't even have time to see you awake.

Dev coming near: Radhika, she knows her papa better, she knows that her papa has other responsibilities too, and she knows that her papa is able to do the rest because her mother is there with my princess and he knew she is the best mom in the wholeworld.

Radhika: oh really!

Dev: um, but only after her papa

Radhika: see, did you hear that baby

Dev: ha she heard it and she knows it, right my princess?

He tried to take his baby in his arms

Radhika: one second, let me put this chain around her neck too.

Dev: oh, look at my sweetie pie, how cute you are looking in that blue dress

Radhika: that is Lechu's gift and she only insisted to put this on.

Dev: whatever, my little one looks cute in any dress

Radhika: um

Dev: why, any doubt

Radhika: no, I am glad atleast you got few monutes to see her today.

Dev: Oh Radhika, I forgot, dadaji is waiting to see her, is she all set?

Radhika: ha, she is all set now, ready to hear her name.

Dev with a smile took her in his arms and smiled wide and placed a small peck over her soft cheek, and the little one showed her pink gums and smiled wide.

Dev: look at her she is very happy

Radhika in trance: ha, she should be feeling happy to be in your arms, listenieng to your voice as she is missing you a lot and...

She did not complete her sentence, but he felt her wetting throat.

Dev looked at his wife's face : Radhikaaa

"Bro, dadaji is waiting for you,"

Lechu's passing voice did not give him much choice that he left with Chudki, and on his way few stopped him to see the little one in his arms and Chudki met everyone with a serious face.

one of the Guests: oh look at her, she looks exactly like you DEv, um,she looks so serious maybe she is proud to be in her dad's arms.

Dev held his head high and then passed each stop overs with a smile , looking proudly at his liitle one and finally he reached Dadaji's side.

"Bro, hold on, it is true that bhabhi looks very pretty, but you are looking at her as if it is your engagement party" ...Dev looked at teasing Sammy's face

Sammy secretly: moreover it is Chudki's day, so remember now you are a dad too.

Dev: Sammy

Sammy: what, did I say anything wrong?

Dev: not at all

And he walked away. Sammy smiled sideways looking at Dev's face who surprisingly gave up easily for him to win...

Lechu: what happened?

Sammy: nothing, I feel happy whenever I get a chance to tease your Bro. look at him, now he will run away from me.

Lechu: what?

Sammy coming back to reality: nothing

Lechu: um

Sammy: I was telling your Bro that you are looking very gorgeous today.

Lechu: Sammy, I heard what you said to Bro

Sammy: so you were jasoosing too

Lechu: just you

Sammy: heai... hey, I love it Lechu, ... and now they all settled, I mean look at the varma's and the Bhatt's , all are happy because they have their pothi with them, but look at the Sam's family, they are still in waiting

Lechu: waiting for what?

Suddenly from behind: Lechu

They jerked and turned back to look at Suchi's face

Sammy watched Lechu's moving lips as he walked away with Suchi and he knew exactly what she is prompting secretly.

The happiness filled the surronding once again and Dev watched his buva and dadaji the happiest while he started calling Sudev for most of the needed helps. Dev stood at a corer and watched his whole family teasing and singing, and laughing loud.

"papa, I am here too"

Dev jerked and looked at Radhika who was standing next to him with his little princess in her arms

Dev surprisingly: radhika!

Radhika: um, did you hear it Chudki, now he is looking at me surpringly, he is not missing us, he is happy with seeing all the others enjoying .

Dev with little disappointment: why are you saying like that

Radhika: or else what to say, I went to feed Chudki, and nobody missed us when we left, and now we are back after an hour thinking maybe somebody will be looking for us, instead seeing him standing with a smile on his face.

Dev: not like that Radhika, Chudki come here

Radhika: no you enjoy the party ok, we have to meet others.

Saying that she tried to walk away with Chudki

Dev tried to hold her arm and pulled her back

Radhika controlled her happy smile

Dev: are you serious?

Controlling her smile, she brought that serious tone: ha, I am serious and chudki also is serious

Dev: Radhika , listen

Radhika: leave my arm ok, they are waiting for me

Dev: let them wait

Radhika's heart skipped a beat, but controlling her uneasiness, she said: let me go

Dev coming near her neck space, said in his husky voice: I said, let them wait

It tickled her skin that she tried to release her arm from his hold

He felt that heat radiating from her skin, that within that fraction of time his lips fell on her warm skin over the shoulder near to her ear.

Radhika didn't move, but looked around to find that privacy

Dev moving his head up, murmerd in her ears: ha, I did miss my princess and my love for few days, but not anymore, I am back...
