Somedays back we had some articles listing this show as being loosely based on Austen's Pride and Prejudice. And we do see certain parallel in the way characters have been built. Arnav's prejudice about Khushi yet his slowly mellowing attitude. Khushi total distrust and annoyance for Arnav. Akash instant attraction for beautiful Jane Payal. Payal's easy smile and kind nature.

Bua's match making to get good husbands for both her nieces and Khushi's father Shashi's ever practical self which doesn't let him from being blinded by kindness of strangers like Shyam.

The another pivotal person who had at times kept lizzy-darcy apart and yet had unwittingly played a major role in bringing them back together had been Captain of Militia, Mr. Whickham.

Whickham had been valiant and smooth to Lizzy to the extent that she had believed herself to be almost smitten by him. Her dislike for Darcy had found base and then strengthened by what Whickham had told her about Darcy stealing his inheritance. But with time she had realized his faults and duplicity which had led her to be more understanding and soft towards proud Mr.Darcy.
The fact that Mr.Whickham had seduced and eloped with Miss Darcy had not endeared him either. His major fall out had been seducing Lydia, Lizzy's fickle minded sister.

So far there has been nothing shown of Khushi's feelings for shyam other than that she sees him as respectable and good friend. But Shyam's interest in Khushi has been highlighted by those flashbacks of Shyam.

But what i would love is when Arnav sees her with someone else...even if its shyam or his shilhoute...the sheer jealousy...Afterall Mr Darcy did accept that he was insanely jealous to see lizzy with anyone else.

So Wicked Mr.Whickham...U are welcome!

Agree with you hundred percent...Shyam is Wickham...just a more deadly and sinister version of him because here Arnav is still blind to his evil...Arnav trusts/believes him whereas Mr. Darcy was knew exactly what Wickham was about.

If you don't mind, could I make just a few minor clarifications?😳 Sorry, don't mean to be rude...

Wickham was a lowly officer in the Militia, a recent one at that, and not a Captain

Lizzy's dislike of Mr. Darcy was based on his initial rebuff to a proposal to dance with her in the first Assembly..."she is tolerable, I suppose..." but yes that dislike was built upon by Wickham's sob story about his lost inheritance.

Wickham was not successful in either seducing or eloping with Georgiana Darcy...though he almost did...Darcy came in just nick of time and Miss Darcy confessed everything to him. But of course, Wickham did break her heart;

Thanks for rectification yaar...i have read the book long time ago...so didn't remember his designation and some of the other details...even the name of many characters like those of lizzy's uncle aunt...also got the spelling of wickham's name wrong, u see..😛

Yes i know lizzy's dislike for darcy began at the country gathering where Darcy refused to dance with her and festered on Wickham's sad story...here too khushi's initial dislike is towards arnav is due to all that has happened between them and not due to anything that shyam has said..

and about georgiana...yes he was not successful in seducing her or eloping with her as darcy and his cousin (or was it a friend) intervened intime...but nonetheless Darcy's antagonism for wickham had probably started from that incidence as he had hurt his sister...i said this because they had highlighted Arnav's love for his di so much..with his saying that he will go to any length for her happiness etc..
