Chapter Seven
Unexpected Shock
Unexpected Shock
Mayank was pacing outside the cabin with the lines of worry on his face. He silently kept praying to God for Nupur's wellness. Just then, the doctor came outside after checking Nupur. Mayank rushed to him.
"Doctor, Nupur theek toh hai naa?", Mayank asked tensely.
Doctor said, "Nupur bilkul theek hai. Kamzori aur raat ko theek se naa sone ki vajah se woh behosh ho gayi thi. Aage se aap ko unka khaas khayaal rakhna padhega."
"Jee bilkul! Waise, kya main usse mil sakta hoon?", asked Mayank.
The doctor replied, "Haan ji bilkul! She's conscious now. So you can meet her."
This brought a huge smile on Mayank's face. Without wasting a single second, he headed to meet Nupur.

Mayank opened the door of the cabin and saw Nupur peacefully resting with her eyes closed. Seeing that, he smiled feeling his heart contented with satisfaction.
"Thank god she is fine!", thought Mayank in his mind and sighed in relief. He went near her and was about to wake her up, but the next moment, he thought not to disturb her. So he just rubbed her forehead gently and went out.

Bright sun rays fell on Mayank's face waking him up. He yawned and stretched out his arms. Rubbing his eyes, he looked around and realized that last night, he slept on the chair in the hospital.
As this realization struck his mind, he said to himself, "Main yaha kab so gaya, kuch yaad bhi nahi hai. Shayad tiredness ki vajah se yehi pe aakh lag gayi. Anyways, ghar jaakar breakfast lekar aata hoon. Uthte hi Nupur ko zarur bhuk lagegi!" He went out of the hospital and drove to his home.
As he entered his home, he was dumbfounded seeing Ria sitting on the couch. Ria, on seeing Mayank, stood up and smiled.
Mayank walked towards her and asked, "Tum yaha?"
Making a serious face, Ria said, "Mayank, main tumse kuch kehene aayi hoon."
"Haan bolo!", said Mayank. "Na jaane yeh drama queen aab kaunsi baat karne aayi hai.", he thought in mind.
"Mayank, i want to tell u that we have to break-up.", said Ria sternly.
Mayank raised his brows hearing what Ria said. After a moment of shock, he lowered his head and tried his best to suppress his laugh.
Ria continued, "I'm sorry Mayank but dad ne meri shaadi fix kardi hai aur main apne dad ke against nahi jaa sakti.", saying that, she made a sad puppy face.
"Chalo, peecha chuta.", Mayank whispered.
"Tum ne kuch kaha?", Ria asked with a suspicious look.
Mayank nervously raised his head and said pretending to be sad, "Woh.. I was saying that i'll miss u a lot but aab kya kar sakte hai."
"Aww Mayank!", Ria said dramatically and hugged Mayank. Mayank hugged her back and said making a fake sad look, "Have a happy married life, Ria!"
Ria broke the hug and giving a peck on Mayank's cheek, she said with a slight smile, "Thanks! *pause* Accha abhi mujhe jana hoga. Bye hun. Apna khayaal rakhna."
Mayank nodded and said, "Bye!" Ria left from there. Mayank fell on the couch laughingly and said raising his head, "Thank you Ganesh ji! Ek aur dil todne ke paap se mujhe bachaa liya."

Mayank entered Nupur's cabin with the box containing the breakfast for both of them. Nupur was reading a magazine. Seeing her so engrossed in what she was doing, he smiled realizing that Nupur was better than before.
"Morning, Ms.Nupur Bhushan!", Mayank said delightfully. Nupur raised her eyes which were stuck on the page of the book. A sweet and strange smile curved on her face seeing Mayank.
"Morning!", she said softly. Mayank came inside and sat in front of Nupur. He asked concernedly, "Aab kaisi tabiyat hai tumhari?"
"Abhi theek hoon. And I'm sorry for all this botheration.", Nupur said with a sense of guilt in her voice.
Mayank smilingly said, "Arey come on! Maine wahi kiya jo insaaniyat ke naate mujhe karna chahiye tha. So, no sorry and yes, no thank you either!"
Nupur laughed and said, "Okay!" A huge smile curved on Mayank's face. He said excitedly, "Anyways, lets have breakfast now! I'm so hungry. Tumhare chakkar mein kal raat ko kuch nahi khaaya. Kitna pareshaan ho gaya tha, janti ho tum. Tum bhi naa Nupur! U should take care of urself, par nahi, tumhe toh apni manmaani karni hai. Aaj se main jo bolunga, tum wahi karogi.", he said in one go and his expression changed from excitement to concern.
Nupur lowered her eyes and nodded innocently which made Mayank giggle. "Chalo, aab breakfast karte hai.", he said and opened the breakfast box. They quietly started eating lowering their heads as they were too hungry. While eating, Mayank slowly raised his eyes and glanced at Nupur.
"Beauty, innocence, shyness, maturity.. peheli bar kisi mein yeh sab ek saath dekh raha hoon. Mile hai toh hum ek din pehele par phir bhi something happens with me when i see her, something really magical.", thought Mayank and shyly smiled.
Nupur sensed something strange. She raised her head and Mayank quickly lowered his eyes concentrating on eating. Nupur said nothing and went busy in eating again.
"Main mineral water ki bottle lekar aata hoon.", Mayank said and went out.

Mayank bought a mineral water bottle from the cafeteria and went back. As he passed by the window of Nupur's cabin, he heard something strange which stopped his steps. He stood beside the window. Peeping inside, what he saw and heard made him dumbstruck. He got the most unexpected shock of his life, his face expressed so.
He turned around furiously. His eyes were filled with anger. He clutched his fingers against his palm and went inside Nupur's cabin like a storm.
The doctor was checking Nupur's pulses. Mayank came near the doctor and Nupur. He gave the water bottle to Nupur and asked the doctor coldly, "Doctor, Nupur ko kab discharge milegi?"
The doctor said smilingly, "Nupur ji ko discharge mil gaya hai. Yeh raha unke discharge papers." Saying that, he handed the discharge papers to Mayank.
Nupur smiled hearing about her discharge but her smile vanished when Mayank told her in a rude tone, "Tum ready hokar aajao. Main bahar gaadi ke paas hoon." Saying that, he stormed outside. Nupur saw him going outside confusedly and nervously.

Mayank and Nupur came back home. Nupur sat on the couch. Mayank was going to his room, just when, Nupur called him, "Mayank!"
Mayank turned back and said in a cold voice, "Bolo!"
Nupur stood up and went near Mayank. "Aap mujhse gussa hai kya? Achanak se aise behave kyun kar rahe hai? Raaste mein bhi baat nahi kiya! Sab theek toh hai naa?"
"Tum acchi tarah se jaanti ho, ke sab theek hai ki nahi.", Mayank said looking angrily into Nupur's eyes.
Nupur could easily see anger and frustration in Mayank's eyes. But she didn't understand the reason behind it. "Kya hua Mayank? Maine koi bhul kardiya kya?"
Mayank gripped Nupur's arms tightly and shouted, "DON'T YOU DARE TRY TO ACT INNOCENT, MS. NUPUR BHUSHAN!"
Nupur stared at Mayank, dumbfounded. Mayank continued, "MAIN SAB KUCH TOLERATE KAR SAKTA HOON PAR JHOOT AUR DHOKA NAHI!"
Nupur lowered her eyes as if she understood what Mayank was talking about. Mayank tightened his grip on Nupur's arms and said, "Meri hi galti thi ke maine tumhe sab se alag samjha. But I was wrong! I WAS SO DAMN WRONG, NUPUR!"
Nupur was silent. Tears formed in her eyes and slowly it flowed wetting her cheeks. Mayank left his tight grip on Nupur's arms.
He grabbed Nupur's chin roughly. Raising her face, he said with fires of anger reflecting in his eyes, "Kal raat tum drugs ki overdose ke vajah se behosh hui thi, right? Tumhari aakhein laal thi, ussi ki vajah se. Aur tumne doctor ko paiso ka laalaj dia, iss liye kyuki woh mujhe yeh baat naa bataaye?", he said in disbelief and continued with the fury depicting in his eyes, "Yes, Ms.Bhushan! Maine tumhari aur doctor ki baatein sunli thi. Aab toh mujhe sirf itna jaanna hai ke tum aisa kyun kiya. Why the hell did u do this?"
He grabbed Nupur's chin roughly. Raising her face, he said with fires of anger reflecting in his eyes, "Kal raat tum drugs ki overdose ke vajah se behosh hui thi, right? Tumhari aakhein laal thi, ussi ki vajah se. Aur tumne doctor ko paiso ka laalaj dia, iss liye kyuki woh mujhe yeh baat naa bataaye?", he said in disbelief and continued with the fury depicting in his eyes, "Yes, Ms.Bhushan! Maine tumhari aur doctor ki baatein sunli thi. Aab toh mujhe sirf itna jaanna hai ke tum aisa kyun kiya. Why the hell did u do this?"
Nupur was silent. Her eyes were teary. She lowered her eyes again as she didn't have the guts to face Mayank. "ANSWER ME DAMN IT!", Mayank shouted. Nupur said with a shivering voice, "Mujhe darr tha.. ki.. agar aap ko yeh baat.. pata chal gaya toh aap.. mujhe apne ghar se nikaal denge.. Aur mere paas rehene ki koi jagaah nahi hai." Saying that, she started crying. But this didn't melt Mayank.
Mayank glared at Nupur and said, "Tumne aaj mujhe bohot hurt kia. U cheated on me damn it and i'm not gonna forgive u for this. I just don't wanna see ur face!" Saying that, he went to his room like a thunder.
Nupur raised her eyes and seeing Mayank going away, she screamed, "I'm sorry Mayank! I'm sorry!" But all her screams and apology were in vain. Realizing that, Nupur sobbingly ran out of the house.

I know i know.. u guys r ready to murder me for ending on such a cliffhanger and not providing a precap!! Well, i just wanted the suspense to be on!! 😆
