Yesterday I saw crime Patrol in Sony 11:00 pm... They showed a case where a guy was forced to marry a girl whom he did not Love... He loved some other girl out of her cast...His mother forced him to marry a girl so that they will get a good amount of dowry...

Post marriage the boy ignored his wife...never spoke to her properly...always found loopholes in her and blamed his parents to get him married forcefullly... He ssaid his wife that he does not love her and loves someone else... The wife always tried to cope up with him so that she gets acceptance in his life...She knew if all these are revealed her parents will break down as for her marriage they had taken loans and sold out properties...She loved her husband and used to show him the love but all in vain...

Atlast her husband said that he divorce her and will get married to his girlfriend... with all the frustration she killed herself...

The husband and his family was jailed for mentally torturing his wife...As this was unlawful...

Yes this unfortunate incident happened in Bangalore city-and after the girls's death her diary was published in a popular daily .The girl was a brilliant student .Post marriage she was reduced to being a servant in the house.Worst everytime she asked her parents for help they told she has to adjust .It wasnt only frustration -she was a reduced to a mental wreak-a shadow of her past-and with no help forthcoming what else could she do-helplines for married women are a few handful in this country and if she got divorced where could she go??Its sad when the country is fluorishing so much women's rights, plans for them, laws are still outdated and far beyond a reach of the commom woman.😡

Girls shld become strong...Schools shld have a compulsary course on Basic Indian Law..Many ppl dont have any knowledge on laws and regarding filing of cases...
Instead of dying she shld have dragged tht guy and his family to court on adultry, dowry harassment and made tht guy's life hell.

such a sad incident. inspite of progressive thoughts and high education people in india still follow dowry systems. i feel the attitude of educated is even more terrible than illiterate...simply coz they have an extra advantage but dont want to come out of their narrow thoughts.

but the case of J A marriage is entirely different. J and A got along well since beginning and even now J likes A a lot...i think it was only the modern streak which was missing in her which made him go for G. here the culprit is not child marriage but nawabzaada J himself who has taken A for granted.

Absolutely I second ur thought, increasing awareness about the rights and repsonsibilites is the only way we can probably tackle this social evil of dowry n I think the media can be used to deliver these messages too for the class of ppl who do not have the previlege of gg to school...I assume giving and taking dowry is a crime and is punishable.

Girls can become strong only when there are strong legal backing-given our slow legal system wherein it takes sometimes as lonf as 6years for just a hearing-whether justice can be delivered is anyone's guess-with no support from one's own parents(tell me how many good families tell their daughters to adjust and accept the fate in inlaws place rather than stand by the side of their daughters???)where is the question of fighting it -when the system is itself at fault????added to this is the stigma of divorcee/lloose moral woman!!!!
First laws must be strenghtened -women must be made aware of their legal/marital rights post marraige-then special fast track courts to try andeliver verdicts within a year or so not more-Like iy n the US where even a celebrity like Mike Tyson was not spared-can we imagine for example an AAmir khan or sports celebrity being tried for marital harrasment????
MAke laws strict and applicable to all-celebrity/hindu/.non hindu or not
Only then such crimes will subside.
