'Actors are never happy with what they have on their plates' -Rakshanda Khan
Why did you choose to play a terrorist?
In Saara Akash, I'm playing a terrorist. The character is also a mother and wants to save her one-year-old child. I am excited about the role because it is unlike any other role I've played before. It's a character you can't relate to, because you can never be like her! That makes it more challenging. The look is also very different. I've put on very little makeup.
Did you accept the role because it has a positive feel to it?
For me, the only reason for taking it up is that I'd be doing a lot of action scenes. It's different from what I have done till now.
How different is playing a terrorist from playing a bahu?
I think they are just different forms of terrorising people!
Some serials tend to drag too long. What do you have to say about that?
It's nice being part of a show that goes on for a long time, because you get that much longer to make a connection with your audience. When you do cameos (as is the case with the terrorist role) then you get to play a wider variety of roles.
Does that mean it's goodbye to bahu roles?
No. That just means that anything that is interesting is always an option in my life whether it is a bahu or a terrorist.
TV actors are wanting to break away from conventional roles...
Any thinking actor is always looking for more options than what is available. So if the rule of the day is that of a terrorist, then they'd be dying to play bahus. Actors are never happy with what they have on their plates. They are always hungry for more.
