Written Update 13 July

Sarika goes to her room and starts looking at a family photo. There is a little boy in the photo along with Sarika and her family. Dadi sees her crying and asks her about it. Sarika tells her about an incident that happened in her childhood--she had a kid brother Monu who fell ill with the same illness as Ammu. But because of their lack of knowledge, they did not call the doctor at first; and later when they tried, all the doctors were either busy or not interested. By the time a doctor came, Monu was already dead. This sent Laxmi unconscious for four days. When she woke up, she had dissociative amnesia i.e. she had forgotten she had a son at all. The doc said that if she was ever reminded of her son, she would run the risk of losing her mental balance. So Sarika's fmily erased all mementos of Monu from their home. This was when Sarika decided to become a doctor. But today, she feels that she could not do anything for her mother. Jai overhears all this.

Dadi and Jai's father are discussing this when Jai comes and again pleads with them. He says that for Sarika, her dream of becoming a doctor was not just a hobby but the goal of her life. If they still refuse to let Sarika go to college, he won't be able to face her and will leave home in the next two days. Hearing this, Dadi decides to talk to Santosh about it.
