Sukhe taalab mein kangar maarkar paani ki aawaaz sunna chathi ho Maa...?

That was an amazing one liner by the dialogue writer. I don't think that Badimaa's mental state can be explained in any better way!

Daadi being a mother can never think of abandoning her child how much ever bad the child be. That makes it clear that she is waiting her husband's or her daughter in law's permission to give another chance to her son. This makes her to keep on asking Badima "aur thu badi.. thumara fesla kya he..". Deep in her heart Daadi wants badi to give one last chance to Eshwar. But at same time she perfectly knows how difficult it will be for badimaa to forget those lonesome years of her life and accept Eshwar.

Badima who understands Daadi's heart, knows that Daadi is expecting an answer like "me ishwar ko wapas pana chahti hoon".. Badima was a wife left by her husband for the reason that she and family is like a cage or burden for him, holding him from achieving his dreams. Any wife (perticularly like badima) would be shattered knowing that she is considered as a block in the life by her husband. She would have sustained it and would have waited for him to come back. But Ishwar didn't allow her for that too. He told that he want to achieve and share his dreams with another lady(meera) but not with Shylaja. All his updates was for his mother but not a bit of consideration of his wife.. She was shattered to the core. Feelings like Love, pain, hatred, abandoned, loneliness came one after the other. As days passed by those feelings turned out to a complete voidness. Ishwar became a complete stranger.. yet close to her heart. Still Ishwar is there deep in her heart but without any bonding or belonging. She is silent because she is still in that void state. Even if she wish now, she is not only unable to love, forgive or understand Ishwar but not able to hate or punish him too.
To decide to get back Ishwar to her life Shylaja should have some feeling towards him. she should be able to give some place for him in her life (atleast of a guest/stranger) or to throw him out as an enemy. But she have nothing.

So now how can Daadi expect an answer from Badima . Its not about expecting 'yes'/'no' as an an answer but its about expecting some comments or decision from her. She has nothing to deal with Ishwar anymore - unless her dear family needs it OR unless Ishwar does something to get 'some' place in her life (which will be like impossible!)
Sukhe taalab bankaya BM-BP current relation, daadi ki questions bangaya kangar aur
paani ki aawaaz he badima ke muh se nikalthi hui comments or decisions.

That was like a sixer! Hats off to the dialogue writer!! 👏👏👏

Diya ji after reading your post I got reminded of Sandarbh Sahith Vaakhya in my Hindi/Sanskrit classes. You have done an awesome anaylsis and would have got full 10 on 10 if the same one liner appeared in your exam.👏

You have said it all for me and I have nothing more to add.👍🏼

Wonderfully expressed👏 . I have the same feeling, that Badi ma has no feelings left for Bade papa . I am pretty certain now that Badi ma is not going to atleast accept him into her life

Superbly written Divya...
you are draging me to accept the condition of BM with your amazing explanation but dil nahi maan raha hai..
after seeing the expressions of BM i feel that she is not in state of void...there is a soft corner and the same love towards BP. thinking again again about him means the same...only thing is he has to come forward and ask her to forgive...then she will definitely forgive him and accept him...
two reasons for saying so :
1. she feels that its coz of her he left as she has not done what he wanted ...
2. she thinks herself as a root cause for separation between a son and parents..

its only a different thought...but once again i must say that you have put up wonderfully. kash yeh sach ho..aur aise hi ho..👏

have to agree with you shweta.. Even when i was writting this post, i was confused with the dialogue and Badimaa's expression.. Even if the dialogue meant she have nothing for badepapa her face was telling something else..
I too think that she is caught up in the past and present. Her and the families past painful life and a completely lost, repenting Ishwar. I think she is confused on how to react to the situation...If Dadaji leave the decision to Badima she may leave it to her children (Inder and Panna).
