I have been a silent member in the IPKKND. But here are my thoughts on Shyam and the mystery surrounding his character. Generally a mystery should not be too obvious for every Tom, Dick and Harry to guess. I hope that the CVs know that much. Hence I feel that Shyam cannot be Anjali's husband who is yet to turn up on the show.
But Shyam is obviously very afraid of facing or talking to any member of the Raizada clan. Could it be related to the terriblle past of Arnav where his mother met with a painful death most probably during his sister Anjali's cancelled wedding is a very valid question which arises in our minds. Was Shyam the bridegroom at that time? Did he walk out of the wedding due to monetary concerns?
We see that for Arnav money is the only god. When did he start thinking like that? Perhaps he started thinking like that after his sister's wedding which was cancelled and his mother's death. Similarly, they were chucked out of their ancestral house Sheesh Mahal by the chachaji. So this could be the reason for Shyam's reluctance to talk or even come face to face with either Akshay or Arnav.
We are informed by various sources that the show is loosely based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. In the novel, the only character who can be compared with Shyam's character is Wickham.Just like Wickham, Shyam too seems to be very shady. He has the appearnce of a gentleman while he really is not one just like Wickham. He seems to have designs on Khushi as he has been pursuing her since their first meeting at Lucknow. If he is money-minded and has ulterior motives then why is he after Khushi. She is an ordinary middle-class girl.
I think that this can be explained from the fact that Khushi is an orphan and living with her maternal relatives. There was an update on facebook some time back about how Khushi has to leave AR group of Companies before the 15 days contract period is over because of her dadaji. THis means that she has to pay an indeminity of one lakh twenty five thousand to Arnav.
None of her relatives as of now are so well-off financially that they could just give her the money in order to resign from AR.So she could just have a very rich dadaji from her father's side. He might have disowned his son when he married her mother as she was from a middle class family. Now perhaps he is repenting his action and trying to trace Khushi's wherabouts. Shyam is a lawyer and could be aware of all these legal details and is trying to make use of this situation for his own benefit. He is putting on a very good face before Khushi and her buaji in order to marry her and inherit all the wealth of her dadji about which she is yet unaware.
These are some of my assumptions regarding the relationship between Shyam and the Raizadas and also his dubious intentions with regard to Khushi. If we take the novel into consideration, Arnav and Shyam would soon meet each other in Khushi's presence with Khushi pondering and being unable to figure out the reason for their enimity. The very fact that Shyam was able to get Khushi a job in AR shows that he has either friends or spies in AR.
We can assume that the revelation of Arnav's past would happen after Arnav's confession of love to Khushi if we go by the novel. Shyam would have poisoned Khushi against Arnav to such an extent that she would refuse his proposal. THe other reason for her refusal would most probably be Arnav's involvement in seperating Akash and Payal who are counterparts of Mr Bingley and Jane if the show moves on the lines of Pride and Prejudice.
Arnav would be left with no other otion but to reveal his terrible past and expose Shyam in order to save Khushi from Shyam's treachery just like the case of Mr Darcy exposing the true character of Wickham before Elizabeth's eyes. This can lead to Khushi softening up towards him.He could eventually make up for his misjudgement and folly in seperating Payal and Akash by bringing them together.
Thus we have the marriage track of Akash and Payal where both Arnav and Khushi come together on a number of occasions, gain a better understanding of each other, and finally realize that they are soul-mates and confess their love for each other. This is my opinion regarding Shyam and his role in the show if we compare him with Wickham. What do you think?
