maan sat on the cold floor like a stone. His friends were beside him trying to shake him but he was deaf to their words,'' only one sentence kept circling in his head,'' she is dead, we are sorry, we couldn't find her body.''

1 week later

Maan was still like a stone, sitting on the floor staring out the window at the falling rain. He couldn't think, his brain seemed frozen.

Rohit and shashank came in his room quietly. Both went to him and sat beside him. He didn't acknowledged their presence lost in his own world.

Shashank scratched his 6 day beard roughlyand put the brown bag beside him. He hadn't slept for days but now, he had something for maan which might prove to be nothing but still it will give maan hope and right this moment maan needed to break his silence. Maan hadn't cried, his sorrow so great that he was beyond tears and according to doctors he needed to vent his sorrow.

Rohit spoke first,'' maan.''

maan remained quiet.

Shashank took a deep breath and said,'' I need your help maan, geet may be alive and only you can help me find her.''

maan moved so fast that he was a blur as he grabbed shashank by shoulder,'' she is alive?, she is ok?, where is she?.'' every word was laced with desperation and it cut shashank's heart to see his strong friend in this condition. He seemed nearly mad.

Shashank,'' calm down, you need your calm maan, please. Yes, she is alive.'' at least he hopped so, shashank thought.

Shashank,'' there was a female patient whom her family took home but I found this and it resemble the description dadi ma gave us.'' he gave the brown bag to maan who took it with shaking hands. He tored it open, a burned shalwar kammez fell on the floor , it had been once white but now was muddy and covered with blood and torn in many places.

But maan remembered it clearly. The day waved in his eyes

maan stood in front of the mirror getting ready for office, he closed his wrist watch and put the wallet in his pocket avoiding looking at geet who was laying on bed watching him getting ready.

Geet,'' maan please.''

maan,'' my decision is final geet.''

geet got up from bed, her white dress high lighted her innocent beauty. She came toward maan and hugged maan from behind who was closing his briefcase. ''please, maan. Its last time, I promise.''

maan closed his briefcase with a snap and whirled around to face geet. '' you say that every time geet. Why are you doing this? Doctor said there isn't anything physically wrong with either of us. We will become parents when Allah wants it, so what's all this about going to mandirs and durga's. You are getting yourself all worked up for nothing.'' his anger suddenly deflated and he held her face gently in his hands,'' I am happy geet, we will become parents when it is time, we have our whole life for all that, this time is for both of us.''

geet,'' but we have been married so long and even meera and dev have twins, I just...'' geet broke off unable to voice what she was feeling, she had a feeling something wrong was going to happen but didn't know what.

She tried once again,'' its not for children only, people come from all over to get blessing for their long happy married life.''

maan,'' but we are already happily married, we don't need all this and if you insist on believing all this nonsense, then I am not going with you.'' he kissed her quickly on lips and left before his resolution break because of her pleading eyes.

5 hours later

the driver stopped the car outside the darga and geet came out. She looked at all the couples going in and hesitated. Then, went inside but a guy there stopped her from performing the rituals. '' a couple is meant to do these rituals together, if you did them alone, then... '' the guy left the words unsaid.

Geet nodded and came out of the durga. She went toward the backside away from cars and called maan trying to persuade him once again but he refused. He was really stubborn. She moved further away from the crowd till she was standing alone with only deep forest in front of her.

Geet,'' maan I don't know, I am waiting for you here, and I won't come back until you come to get me and that's my final decision. Geet cut the call before he could say anything. A slow grin spread on geet's face, he has to come and get me now. At that moment, geet heard a blast, she whirled around and then, the force of a second blast threw her several feets away, the feeling of pain exploded in geet, her body felt like some one peeled it and then, she lost consciousness.

2 hours later

a fuming maan paced in the hall. He won't go to get her, he was not a puppy but her husband, he made all the decision in the house. He will not go running after her like some love sick boy. He told her his views on the subject and she should respect them. He stopped and glared at watch, she was just so stubborn nah and she wasn't receiving his calls either.

He heard the sound of a car coming in and a smile spread on his face which he quickly hid. He went to sofa and quickly grabbed a magazine and sat on sofa pretending that he hadn't been waiting. But it was rohit and he looked very serious for once.

Maan got up from sofa,'' what happened?''

rohit came to him and stood there looking at maan's face. He started to say something several times but then fell silent. Finally, he sank on to the sofa. Maan who was alarmed now quickly called nakul to bring water. He sat beside rohit, an unknown fear taking root in his heart.

Maan, '' Is shashank okay?''

rohit grabbed the water offered by nakul but put the glass on table.

Rohit,'' shashank is at the... I mean, there were bomb blasts today and shashank is there.''

maan was puzzled,'' why is he at the site? He shouldn't expose himself like that but..''

maan trailed off, a thought had suddenly struck in his brain. ''where?''

rohit remained silent, maan's knees gave out he slowly sank to the floor. No, something screamed in his mind, no it couldn't happen but he was becoming numb in shock.

maan picked up the torn dress and hugged it. No, she couldn't leave him, she had promised to be with him. Geet, his heart cried out.

Shashank slid closer to maan, maan's actions proving that those were geet's clothes,'' give me her hair brush and tooth brush, I will perform a DNA scan but I am sure its her. I promise you maan, I will find her for you but'' he hesitated ,'' it will take time, whoever took her is very influential, they wiped her all records and even transferred the doctors and nurses who took care of her.'' and that had been there downfall, shashank had noted the transfer records and had been shocked because changing staff when there was emergency at hospital seemed very unprofessional.

Maan looked at shashank,'' if she is alive, they won't be able to keep her away from me. She can't stay away from me.''

maan singh khaurana looked at the invitation in girl's smile and turned away. The girl's smile fell. She muttered, they say right, he is the ice man.'' frustrated she went back to her friends. A girl sitting on the left table listened to her story and a mocking smile lit eyes. A challenge, she loved challenges. She stood up her straight silky hair open touching her hips. Her clothes accentuated her figure and shrieked money. She went toward the bar but the guy was gone. Disappointment rose in her, she turned and went back to girl asked her, what was his name.

The girl answered recognizing her,'' Maan Singh Khaurana.''

when she left the other girl's friends asked her,'' who is she? We have seen her somewhere''

the girl sighed and said,'' of course, you must have seen her although the media rarily get the chance to get her photo. She is geet, geet rathode, daughter of rashi rathode, the owner of shipping empire.''
