As everyone has mentioned at one time or the other, Vasant was a larger-than-life kind of guy. We could see the happier times the family had spent together. That void created by Vasant's death still reverberates loud and clear, in everyone's lives. Motaba and Pannba along with Vasant were seen actually laughing out loud especially when Pannba imitates Motaba and then feels shy after doing so and all of them laugh to their heart's content
We can easily draw parallels to Kesar and Vasant. KESAR IS NOT VASANT. But their will-pwer is just the same.
Motaba says "apne baap ke ek ishaare par", Vasant went all the way to save the village from draught, even though it needed Vasant to go against their idea of not seeking help from the rival village.
The dialogue here is significant when he says "Blind are those who do not dare and helpless are those who do not chase their dreams". This can apply very well to Gulaal, she does not dare to live life again and it applies to Kesar that he is not helpless because he is chasing his dream, to bring happiness in Gulaal's life.
And Kesar is very much similar to Vasant in daring to chase his dreams and when he now has set out to fix all problems and bring his people back to "life". Kesar like Vasant has the utmost respect for his dad, we could see the extent to which he had gone and brought Lalji Ba home for a momnent of happiness in his dad's life. Ever since Vasant's death Motaba, Pannba and of course Gulaal have not learnt to live life, they have just existed.

I have loved the dialogues here too.
Gulaal says "jab tak tu padhai karke aaye, tab tak maine socha ki koi naya hunar seekh loon". This was her attitude before, to experiment and learn something new, to unearth some hidden talent even within the short time duration until Kesar came back in the evening. But today she is scared to experiment with life. This scene was when Vasant was with her. Now she is "ALONE"
Kesar's dialogues are also symbolic.
In wait of my return, why have you made Mojris for Vasant Ba??.
He had been fascinated by the Mojris that were meant for Vasant. And the "Intezaar", the wait; Gulaal did wait for Kesar's return after 10 years, but she is not willing to experiment and consider a life with him and she continues to be confined to the walls created in the name of Vasant. Way back then, she made Mojris for Vasant even as she waited for Kesar to be back from school, in these 10 years, she has kept Vasant alive even as she waited for Kesar to be back and take on family responsibilities and step into Vasant's Mojris.
I also like his "Chii" to the substitute Mojris that she offered him.

Ganga - I could only vaguely interpret what PB imitated of MB having said - so thank you for the proper translation... it's a beautiful thought!

I think revisiting the old episodes of this show has given me even more faith in he CVs - because their storyline was never regular to begin with, but they always had a complete picture plan, they were not just going a week of episodes at a time and then deciding the story ahead. There were subtle hints everywhere, of the being GK centeric, and about Vasant only serving his purpose in making GK happen, while also making G & K what they individually. After watching the snippet posted by Nur I can appreciate much more and better, yesterday's father son dialog between MB and Kesar.

While Gulaal has locked herself inside of the bubble of the past except for all practical day to day routine activities; one can see it is infact the whole house that has lived without its soul for a decade. They had huge expectations from Kesar when he came back - and like Talli once told him, his return was actually the first sign of a promise that Gulaal might retain at least a part of her old time character ... but there was so much underlying gore in his return, that there were all these intermediate demons to deal with and get rid off, before he could become the version of Kesar we have seen in this week. By now, of course, the family's hopes from him - if not dashed - have settled for the fact that they expected too much and far, and second time round, he will prove them wrong! He makes such a habit of doing what anyone could only least expect, lol! Anyway - I'm glad Nur's teaser post made me hunt down and watch the actual episodes (about 4 of them) knowing the story outline and watching it made a huge difference!

I think I'm also going to appreciate Gulaal's side better... not in justifying it, but in exceeding my usual tolerance. PooBaa was right when she said - she has seen her daughter fall apart till till karke. It's been a long ten years time, and the only thing Gulaal has really persistently implemented is losing her original person, slowly and steadily.

Thanks JZee and Meysimi for the vids and interprerations - MB and PB has seemed to have not moved on as well
You know JZee its very much needed to watch and see and feel the old Gulaal, to see how she has shaped up today, and little by little she has shattered and detached herself from not everything and anything but from herself
Seeing past Gulaal till now - its one of the reason why i get her - and its one of the reasons i cant ever dislike her or say she gets on my nerves, why is she doing this and so on, as i am sure most of you viewers say that, esp as many ppl have come after leap to join in and watch😊 even watching the 1st episode of adult Kesar coming back and seeing Gulaal then and talking to him, there is such a vast difference to that day and today... bit by bit as Kesar being back, and the way he was and so on... she has really let her herself go
The pre KG scenes were great, my fave one is probably the night scene i think, where he is scared of the dark and Gulaal just brings him out of it, it was a great scene - and you know this is what i see today, that its time for Kesar to step up and do what Gulaal has done for him back then... in bringing Kesar to do things, and make him see things and understand them...

Len - that is an awesome scene - in essence too! Especially when he chants Gulaal's name to dispel his fear ... she truly has been his anchor - even though he has learned from day one to solve the problem by himself, like he told her, having her beside him is his greatest sense of security.

It is, and its so heart-warming to see that... everything connects with these two, you so appreciate these scenes even more today, and how you apply them today's KG 😳
I loved him saying Gulaal - the person he trusts the most he should chant out, and the look on Gulaal's face for a second she had

Fivr-

all alone and in a world that really doesn't take kindly to people who show ANY weakness! And I guess the only way she figured she can protect her self from the truth of her misery is to pretend it never happened or pretend it isn't a "bad thing" at all! So she wears her "widow" status like a crown and she soughts out her loneliness even if she's with family.
This line alone made my day-I am going through a rough period and bless you, you've made my day. You showed me a mirror.

Awesome scene! Thanks for posting, Jzee...truly watching the old epis gives me a whole another deeper perspective about the richness of this story and all the layers that have been progressively built with time...

I have a quick question...the mojris that Gulaal made for Vasant that day that Kesar was insisting that HE wants...these were the same mojris that Gulaal used to do the deeyarvattu with Kesar ultimately, right?
