Ousted Baazigar contestant cries foul

Zee's Business Baazigar now has its share of controversies! This week's ousted contestant, Leena Abhyankar has lambasted the show's makers for treating her unfairly!

Crying foul: Leena Abhayankar

The episode to be aired this week, shows Leena being ousted and called a cheat for conning people during her assignment last week. Leena along with her teammate, Prakash, decided to take money from people to be part of a roadside quiz, promising them of a jackpot four days later. This was one decision that the duo specially Leena will regret throughout her life. But the lady is not happy with the decision the jury took on her later (the episode will be aired on 12 May) and has a lot to say in her defence.

"Zee is interested in making its reality show. Unko sirf show se matlab hai! They are not bothered about ideas. The games defy their very statement, Idea le ao...paise le jao!" says Leena who points out that it's unfair that she has been ousted and not her partner, Prakash who also was part of the con.

"If success is divided, then failure should be too. In fact, I had thought about some other idea and Prakash didn't want to do it...so I had to be part of the road quiz. Prakash didn't want to accumalate people and made me do it...I had no intention of conning people, I had uttered the word 'prize' by mistake and the moment I realised it I stopped using the word...but during the edit they used only that part!" laments Leena, who is currently working with Max New York Life.

While Leena cries foul, producer Alankar Jain is quick to defend his show. "I don't blame Leena. She had come to the show with many expectations, but once they didn't work out, she's feeling bad about it! As far as her claim of not giving due appreciation to ideas is concerned, I can give just one simple answer - ideas are great, but these people have to show business acumen. It's important that these people have the ability to spot profit making businesses and the ability to make money from nothing," explains Jain, adding that Leena was ousted instead of Prakash because she was the instigator.

"We can't set bad examples! If we had allowed her to stay then it would have instigated other contestants to take the same route. Here we are looking to create businessmen with ethics and that means that we cannot support unfair means," says Jain.

Leena's angst is perhaps understandable...but this is a game and there are no second chances here!

What really led to the ouster???

When Business Baazigar gave the Final 14 contestants a challenge to prove their ability to make money with just one rupee in 24 hours - Leena thought she was making a very smart move, when she convinced her partner Prakash to collect money from people for a road side quiz and the promise of a non-existent jackpot at the end of that quiz. The modus operandi was simple - Find some gullible people, indulge in some smart talk and collect money from people for a road side quiz with the promise of a big reward after 4 days. What was not said to people was that 4 days will never come in this 1 day task. The idea worked, and over a thousand rupees were collected within a matter of hours.

Hey .. Very interesting .. But this was bound to happen .. You can't con people on national television and get away with it

And ofcourse if people are going to be funded to start businesses on their ideas it is only fair that they are tested on their business acumen and business ethics before the money is given to them

Good to hear she is out of the show. I was shocked to see her telling lies to make money and then justifying it!!! and now she does not even seem to regret what she did!!

The idea of the roadside quiz show was the worst. I agree with Ravisant. How did they think they'll get away with it? 😕

The decision taken by the judges against her was right considering the way she tried to trick people. That's not the right way to do business and she deserved to be dismissed.

She definitely deserved to be ousted after what she did. It was ridiculous how she conned those unsuspecting individuals on the street. She thought she was over smart when doing it, but when she had to answer her crime she tried to defend the act.

She is a crook, and deserves to be labelled a cheat internationally.
