shaheen@mid-day.com AT LAST! Amar Upadhyay can't conceal his joy The original Mihir of the Star Plus daily Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Amar Upadhyay is finally back in the Balaji fold. After the constant buzz that he would return in Kyunki, Upadhyay now finds himself not in Kyunki, but in the Sony drama Kkusum. When contacted last night Upadhyay confirmed that he had been offered a role, accepted it immediately and had already shot for the promos. "Yes, I will be in Kkusum soon but I can't divulge any more details at this stage," he says. It is learnt that Upadhyay will play the role of a new character that is being introduced in the daily. He will be seen as the doctor who performed the plastic surgery on Kkusum (Shilpa Saklani). He has given Kkusum the face of his wife. The show's track will focus on the doctor and Kkusum; he will consider her as his wife (she, after all, has her face!). Also, though Kkusum has regained her lost memory, she will continue to put on a fake act of amnesia. On the cards is also a one-hour special episode of Kkusum besides a music track of the main Kkusum characters sung by the Indian Idol finalists. Upadhyay has also been offered a role in the other Balaji daily Kasautii Zindagi Kay on Star Plus. "But we still have to sit down and discuss it, so I can't comment about it at this juncture," says the actor. Upadhaya had walked out of Kyunki in February 2002 after the drama took a generation leap as he did not want to essay an old character. shaheen@mid-day.com Upadhyay post-Kyunki After Amar Upadhyay quit Kyunki, Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, he was seen on the big screen in Shyam Ramsay's Dhund — The Fog. On the small screen, he featured in Aroona Irani's Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand on Star Plus and in Mehndi Tere Naam Ki on Zee. When Des took a leap, he was out as he did not want to grow old.
