Chapter 31 - Making it up

Next Day Morning

Geet got up early next day and left for office before meeting anybody. She prayed to Babaji for her plan to be successful.

Meanwhile in the garden Rishab was in deep talks with Raj.

Rishab - "Main tujhse kuch kehna chata tha yaar"

Raj looked at Rishab worriedly - "tu aise formally kyon baat kar raha hai...kya hua...sab thik hai na"

Rishab - "sab thik hai bas ek baat man mein thi"

Raj - "bol"

Rishab - "woh you must have noticed that due to Geet's sickness, Geet and Maan have come really close recently. They have a very good bonding and have become good friends."

Raj - "Hmmm...so to hai"

Rishab - "To main soch raha tha ki in dono ki shaadi ke bare mein soch sakte hain kya"

Raj was taken aback a little "frankly, maine aise kabhi socha nahin yaar"

After some thought Raj spoke - "You know Rishab that I have always believed in Love. Tujhse to kuch nahin chipa. Nisha and I had to face lot of hardships to get together. Even today I can not forget the pain we two had to go through. If you and Juhi were not there to help us we both would be probably dead by now. A major part of the problem was that Nisha's father wanted her to marry his best friend's son.

I know the two situations are entirely different because both our kids are not in love. Geet has been too preoccupied with work whereas Sameera has left some deep scars on Maan. I am very happy to see their friendship and I also know that if we mention this to them three things can happen - Best case scenario they will happily agree which will bring happiness to entire family, second option they may feel pressurized because of our relationship and end up compromising in their lives by having a loveless marriage and third they may politely refuse but this will most likely bring awkwardness between them and probably will affect all of us.

Though I will be the happiest person if first option happens but are we ready to risk that in face of other two things which can happen?"

Rishab patiently heard his friend. "Tu thik kah raha hai Raj...is baat ko yehin chodte hain...I will never risk their happiness or friendship for our whim"

Same Day Evening

Geet went to mall one hour before her meeting time. She glanced thru the shops and finally got what she was looking for. She waited patiently again in the Costa coffee shop. This time she took a cool frapuchino to avoid herself getting hot.

Maan came few minutes early as somewhere he still felt guilty for what happened yesterday.

Maan - "Hi...I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long"

Geet - "Maine sorry kaha na...ab itne formal kyon ho rahe ho"

Maan's st - "This girl doesn't miss anything. Shayad I don't know myself why I was behaving like this but she just sees thru me. Sab kuch dikhta hai ise bas mera pyaar nahin samjh mein aata"

Maan - "Hmmm...chalo chalein"

Geet first ordered a beautiful bouquet for the couple. Next they went to a jewelry shop and picked up an antique set for Pinky. Later they bought an Omega watch pair for both Adi and Pinky. Their last stop was a saree shop. Maan somewhere felt the pinch that they bought so many things for their friends but nothing for Geet. At the same time he felt awkward in just buying her a gift. Geet on the other hand was oblivious to Maan's thoughts and busy in looking at some sarees for Pinky. She finally selected two and asked Maan's opinion.

Geet - "Maan, dekho in donon mein se kaun si loon"

Maan looked at an aqua and a plum colored sarees. "Mmm...both are nice...donon le lo"

Geet - "Haan yeh thik rahega...haina"

Maan came closer to Geet and stood behind her - "Geet, tum bhi apne liye dekh lo"

Geet was startled and looked at Maan - "apne liye"

Maan - "Haan?kyon nahin?tum Saree mein bahut achi lagti ho"

Geet asked cheekily - "Achaa...waise nahin lagti"

Maan smiled - "You are beautiful Geet but when you wear saree...tum is jahan ki nahin lagti, bilkul pari dikhti ho" (Courtesy GHSP)

Geet blushed. She stammered "woh...main bahut kam saree pehnti hoon...actually the saree you and Bauji gifted was the first saree I have...otherwise I always borrow it from mom...and now from Pari as well...so no need...waise bhi late ho raha hai"

Having said, Geet hurriedly moved outside as she was feeling hot under Maan's gaze.

Later in the night

Maan drove her to KM. As they were steeping in, Geet held Maan's hand.

Maan lifted his eyebrows and looked at her with surprise.

She just dragged him to back yard and sat at the swing making him sit beside her. She still held his hand and Maan just looked at her adoringly. Moonlight was falling on her face making her look even more beautiful and serene. He was lost in her face while Geet just sat quietly looking down holding his hand. It felt peaceful to be there and stared at the beauty in front of him.

Slowly she looked up and faced him. He noticed a slight blush as she hastily licked her lips with her tongue nervously. Finally she spoke with a slight hesitation "I am sorry for troubling you so much yesterday. I have got something to let you know that I will always be there with you. I hope you like it" Saying this she slipped something cold on his wrist of the hand she still held. He looked down to see a metallic wrist watch shining at him. He looked closely at the words etched on the rim - "forever there for you".

He caressed the wordings with his hands and whispered "It is beautiful...it is the most alluring thing I have ever seen"

He cupped her face gently in his hands and gazed at her. Their eyes spoke volumes about the promise she had just made. He leaned down and kissed her forehead slowly. She left the breath she never knew she was holding and cocooned her head at the nook of his neck. He tucked her in his arms and they sat silently on the swing feeling each other's breath. It seemed calmness had spread on them and finally they had found solace to their restless fluttering hearts in each other's arms.

Today they did not want to speak. There was no need to give words to their feeling. There was no need to give any name to their love, to their relationship
