He describes himself as an extrovert who loves to talk all the time. That's probably why Sachin Sharma swayed into journalism and became an anchor with a news channel. But there was the urge to do more and when Balaji Telefilms spotted him on TV and asked him to audition for a role there was no looking back. "It wasn't easy deciding though," admits the young actor. "Switching careers, moving from Delhi to Mumbai was a big decision." But his love for acting made it simpler. "My acting career actually started when I was in fifth standard. That's when theatre started at school level," he recounts. Wellknown for his character in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii on Star Plus, Sachin is now looking forward to playing an out-and-out negative character. "After playing hardcore positive characters I'd really like to do something different," he says.
On the personal front, it's just work and loads of that. Sachin's not seeing anyone right now. Ask him about it and pat comes the reply, "Girls don't like me at all!" In his inimitable humourous style he goes on to explain, "Till now it's always been a case where the girls I liked actually liked someone else. So now let's hope it's the other way round where someone likes me. And, well, I like her too."
Movies is the next logical step but the offers coming in a the moment are films with far too much emphasis of sex. "Maybe it's my sex appeal," smiles Sachin. On a serious note, "These movies may make money but as an actor they don't take you anywhere. Of course if there are scenes which are a requirement of the film then it's fine," he says. And what are his strengths and weaknesses? "My strength is my belief in God. Whenever I've made a decision thankfully I've never had to regret it. Woh chalata gaya, main chalta gaya."
Weaknesses? "Whenever I do something I'm not satisfied. I just think it could have been better. That puts a lot of pressure. But that's good too. It helps to bring out the best in me."
