Most undesirable? Viewers trash Simi's new show

New Delhi: Simi Garewal, seen as the Oprah Winfrey of Indian television, had her task cut out from the very beginning to fill in a prime time slot on Star World that fell vacant after director Karan Johar wrapped up his hugely popular 'Koffee with Karan' chat show.

But the suave and articulate 70s heroine from the silver screen scored mostly negative reviews on her new show 'India's Most Desirable' where she interviews some of India's most eligible bachelors.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor was the first guest on the show on Sunday and he got chatty with Garewal, a friend of his parents Neetu and Rishi Kapoor, on his relationships, work and family life. But the conversation was stilted and lacked the youthful banter that was a big part of Johar's chat show.

Garewal, one of the most graceful actresses of her time, who acted with Rishi Kapoor in 'Karz', was seen by viewers as trying too hard.

"My 2 paise on SimiGarewal's India's Most Desirable: Boring and terribly syrupy. The step brother of Koffee with Karan. Shut it down pl," Faisal Shariff posted on Twitter. Many of Garewal's fans looked forward to the veteran actress's new show after her success with 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' where she interviewed older celebrities and contemporaries in an informal set up.

"I don't know what #SimiGarewal is fancying herself to be these days? Bollywood's #OprahWinfrey, eh? although it's delightful to see her," said Preeti Saini on Twitter.

While IMD gave a chance to Kapoor to clear the air about his relationship with actresses Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, a fallout of a chat session with KJo, the visibly uncomfortable actor was seen haltingly answering personal questions from the host – a contemporary of his parents.

The show lacked energy and fell flat with audiences. But there's little cause to lose heart yet, since the first episode is followed by many others and Deepika Padukone is next week's guest.

It is the actors job too to make the most of the opportunity and try to entertain..Havent we seen enough talk shows in America..They know what they have to do to keep the audience on thir feet.The LIVE audience there looked BORED😵

The Docomo ads also makes you wonder if he is actually a dull person using glamorous actresses to prop him up...

Right now the girls have left..and we have the mother and son..will another girl walk into his parlour? not a famous independent girl I am sure..
