Just For Information...
As a lot of you would be aware, that Kasamh Se is borrowed from an old novel called "Too Much Too Soon" by Jacqueline Briskin and a little bit from Louisa May Alcott's classic book, "Little Women" and its sequel, "Good Wives".
I personally think that the storyline of Kasamh Se is uncannily similar to "Too Much Too Soon"...the story line is quite idential with some inter-changes being made but the characters are a direct lift off:
Curt Ivory - Jai Walia (Millionaire, dynamic, aggressive, ambitious, charismatic, obstinate and powerful)
Honora Sylvander - Bani (Honora is dreamy, fragile, extremely tender and loving and her love for Curt knows no bounds...)
Crystal Sylvander - Pia (Sexy and attractive, totally money-minded and materialistic, and completely ruthless when it comes to her happiness)
Jocelyn Sylvander - Rano (Insecure, brainy, lonely yet quietly ambitious and hard-working)
Gideon Talbott - Pushkar (Caught between the love for his wife Crystal and his loyalty to his foster Father)
In the original story, Gideon is supposedly a rich and old man with whom the three sisters, Honora, Crystal and Jocelyn come to stay after their Father's death. Curt is the adopted son of Gideon and he falls in love with Crystal only to be ditched by her at the altar. Crystal ends up marrying the much older Gideon for the sake of his money and Honora who has always been hopelessly in love with Curt ends up marrying him.
In Kasamh Se, they inter-changed the characters a little bit, Jai is playing Curt, but he is also old and rich, unlike the original Curt who was young but penniless! But the characterstics of both Curt and Jai are uncannily similar, both are dynamic, ambitious, short-tempered and charismatic and have dark pasts!
Also, in Kasamh Se, Bani is originally shown to fall in love with Pushkar, but later on she falls in love with Jai, but in the novel, Bani's character Honora falls in love with Curt from the very first sight and remains singlulary devoted to him!
Gideon and Curt becomes enemies for life and business rivals later on! Also, later on Honora and Crystal fall apart because of their respective husbands as Honora has to choose between her love for Curt and the love she has for her sister, Crystal and she chooses her husband!
After a lot of differences and heart-burn, Curt finally falls in love with Honora and they start on a wonderful married life....only to be confronted by an immensely jealous Crystal who regrets walking out on Curt!
Curt has fallen out of love with Crystal but she has never really got out of his mind because of her betrayal and in one night of drunkeness, to avenge Gideon and to salvage his own ego, Crystal manages to seduce Curt only to be confronted by a shattered Honora, who is expecting Curt's child.
Honora tries to commit suicide but is saved on time by Curt, but she ends up losing their child and becomes a recluse.
Stung by his own weakenss and the unintentional betrayal he committed on his wife, Curt moves into his shell and becomes a complete loner and alchoholic. Curt finally realizes that he has never loved anyone more than his own wife and is unable to come out of the guilt of betraying her and vows to remain by his wife's side forever, even though she literally becomes lifeless.
Crystal later realizes that she has committed a huge crime by destroying her sister and brother-in-law's marriage and after giving birth to her child (Curt and her child) she takes her own life, begging for forgivenss from Honora and promising him to forgive Curt, as he has never loved anyone else more than Honora in his onw life.
Curt and Honora are rejoined again......
Jocyelyn ends up marrying the guy she loves, but he gets killed and she goes on to become a big-shot business tycoon and remains a widow all her life.
Don't you guys think that the characters and story line are pretty much alike, atleast till now....what would be your reaction, if in the furture Jai and Pia do indulge in a one-night stand just like it happend between Curt and Crystal in the novel? (I would personally wrangle Jai' neckš”)
But the good thing is that if Kasamh Se is indeed following "Too much too soon" then Jai (Curt) and Bani (Honora) fall in love hopelessly and remain devoted to one another for the rest of their lives....even though their lives are struck by personal tragedies!
Love,
MT
