For Ahem his world revolves around his mum and working hard and shining in his business. His personal upkeep, ie his taste in food, day-to-day needs and inspriational / aspirational speeches to motivate him, were all provided by his mum. HIs mum has brought him up like a well-oiled machine. His achievements are all due to this.

Anita was a small part in Ahem's world. She is attracted to what she sees out the outer side, his image, his achievements, his position. Where she able to fulfil his personal upkeep?

Another queston to ask is: how much was Ahem willing to compromise in his relationship?

You are right he likes things the way he wants them, no compromise where Gopi is concerned, but perhaps if he was to open his heart to allow another person in there, afterall mum won't live forever, he will need someone to takes mum's place, to motivate him and keep everything on the home front ticking along. Perhaps Anita was smart enough to be this support system he required but his mum was not ready to relinquish all her responsibilities whilst she is still alive, it's up to Gopi to step up and shadow Kokila and know how to please Aham.

Eventually a few years down the line, he will have not choice but to accept Gopi.
