Thou shall not lie!

Television actors recall the times they lied to their parents

It was my friend's birthday and I didn't have enough money to buy him a gift. So, I needed to borrow money from my mother. However I told her that I needed Rs. 200 to participate in our school's Annual Day function. She gave me the money, without suspecting anything was amiss.

Once I told my mother that I was going to a friend's place when I had actually gone out with my boyfriend. But then that particular friend landed at my home… and I got caught out! What my mother told me that day, is something I can never forget and never want to talk about!

I've largely been honest to my family. But once I was talking to one of my male classmates over the phone and my mother insisted on knowing if it was a girl or a boy. She had never asked me such questions before, so I didn't know what I was supposed to say. I told her it was a girl. I don't know why I did that… I really don't!

The only time I lie is when I have to save my skin. I was in college when my friends asked me to accompany them to a night club. So I told my family that I would be spending the night studying with my group of girl friends at a common friend's place. But I felt so guilty later that I ended up confessing the truth to my mother.

My parents had gifted me an expensive watch on my 15th birthday. But I lost it a couple of days later. As it is, I was feeling terrible about it. When my parents asked about the watch, I told them I had given it to my friend. But, eventually they did learn the truth... and that made me feel even more miserable.
