Miscarriage's the new twist

Where audiences were looking forward to see a new facet (motherhood) of their favourite protagonists, few of them have suffered miscarriages.
Most popular being Akshara (Heena Khan) in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Archana (Ankita Lokhande) in Pavitra Rishta, they both have suffered miscarriage in their respective serials.
We ask producer of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Rajan Shahi about why such a tragic turn in "happy" story-line and he says, "Yeh Rishta... explores the journey of a couple post marriage. It portrays a young couple's relationship in all aspects and couple wanting a child was a natural progression. Miscarriage is a reality which can happen in any young couple's life and the soap handled it quite sensitively between Akshara and Naitik and the way family handled it. Miscarriage is one topic normally people don't want to talk about. Yeh Rishta... never follows any trend. It has always been a young couple's story and all what happens in their life is quite realistically shown as per story's progression."
And how difficult it is for actresses' to put forward such a situation in their characters? When asked Ankita Lokhande, she says, "It's the need of the script and as an actor I'm trying my best to get into the skin of the character. I'm performing this tragic event in the most convincing way possible."
Emotional anchor surely works on GECs and is it the TRP game that brings such tragic twist in tale?
