Okay, just caught up on all episodes...and I actually feel like typing out my initial impressions (usually too lazy...)
The first few episodes were quite good. The lead actors are fantastic...even while mouthing the most asinine lines (Ram Kapoor esp. was given given some over the top nonsense...) they sound believable. I LOVE their vulnerability and strength...the minor (and major) humiliations they are subject to and the grace with which they deal with them.
LOVE the fact that Priya says "You're welcome ma"...after rushing around for that stupid bracelet (btw...can they not pronounce bracelet properly????😆) & how she confronts her mom after the elevator scene about her hurtful remarks...she is aware and awake to the humiliations she has to endure...LOVED ST's expression when she overhears her sister talk about her to her friends...
LOVED RK's face when his step mom asks her son to do the kanyadaan...he seems much less awake to his family's treatment of him (maybe that will be developed further) and more vulnerable...not too impressed with buying a failing company for the jet...too much melodrama...but whatever they set up the premise with that...and this is a soap...
Speaking of RK...LOVE his friendship with Vikram...
The guy playing Vikram is good...all emotional and angry for his friend (how cute), totally funny with his wife and kids...liked him a lot...I'm glad RK has a friend like Vikram.
The rest of the supp cast...whoa...over the top! I'll only mention the worst - Priya's mother is SO annoying...I watch her scenes on mute...
Other annoyances...TOEFL classes in Hindi???? Huh????? Isn't the TOEFL an English proficiency test?
Okay, my fav shows on Indian tv so far have been Rishta.com and Mahi Way...
I don't expect BALH to be anything like these shows. It is a soap...not a sitcom, that much is evident.
but PLEASE don't let it descend into the typical saas-bahu drama...this is a love story and they should keep that front and center.
The lead characters have been shown to be mature and real and sensible...please keep the show that way too.
I think these actors deserve it.
phew...
