On his future, Karunya said, "I will continue singing as its my life. At the same time, I would concentrate on studies too. I love performing so I would like to do shows, be a successful playback singer and have albums of my own. I have a long list and a long way to go."
Karunya will be recording his first song for Ushakiron movies. He is getting offers from Bollywood as well. "My ambition is to sing in all languages," he added.
Did the programme have any effect? "I was initially shy and scared to face the camera. Indian Idol helped me overcome that. Now I am confident and expressive," he said.
"The presence of my parents at the show boosted my spirits. They were also tensed about the result and went through the same emotions like me. What I am today I owe it to them.''
Earlier Karunya was given a warm welcome at the airport. The terminal at the Begumpet airport wore a festive look with colourful banners, loud music and crackers.
Hundreds of fans, college-mates, and family members waited eagerly to receive the local hero. As soon as he landed, he was mobbed by people. Later Karunya took part in a procession, which ended at Hotel NKM Grand at Somajiguda.
