Night - When Anna Hazare did fasting or now that Baba Ramdev is doing the same, look at the media attention the two of them received. But when Medha Patkar did the same, for almost 8 days, media reported the whole thing like just any other news.

Is it because its not only the news channels but also people who resonate with the issue that Anna Hazare is fighting for and not what Medha Patkar is? (She is fighting on behalf of slum dwellers who are about to lose their homes.) I would not blame only the news channels which are driven by their own political and financial agenda. The society too is biased in the way they react to issues presented. To an extent news channels reflect that.

Here is complete news:

Does media control our societies, our behaviors? Is it difficult to measure who or what original means because everything that we wear, listen, eat and act are all things that we have seen not things that we have invented ourselves. Do we live in a world run by media in a form of communication? If media can control societies behaviors today, then what does our future hold?

Depends how we analayse the news/media,I think, this is one reason China trying buy major shares of populer medias in this world. If we check in india, each political party have Channels to spread their views and ideas to public. and some jounalists are stationed at politicians house 24 hours to give favour articles. for that food liquor money... are privided by the corrupt policians. Its not too difficult to identify corrupted media. Simply watch what they hide and what they show and their way of presentation...They should give just news but they find always giving their opinion.😊

True, society is biased but mostly at a cost of media for planting the seed in the heads of the illiterate individuals. The majority of the media in India is owned by PTI, as they are tied with Times of India, the Indian Express, the Hindustan Times, the All India Radio, etc. The chairman of PTI Vineet Kumar Jain who is closely tied with BJP/congress where the news is either in favoritism or against political parties. The media is biased toward the most popular news vs highlight social issues of national importance. I agree with you on the case of Hazare vs Patkar, unfortunately the media and society are hand in hand responsible. As its stated that with freedom comes responsibility but no one is willing to take any responsibility.

As true journalism is lost through a bias opinions. My hope for the true journalism still lives...
Doubt, questions everything.
Detect, pursuit of the truth.
Discern, fairness and balance in reporting.
Demand, focus freedom of speech.

I think in the end the relationship between society and media is not unidirectional, neither controls the other, but rather bidirectional they both influence each other.

To some extend this may have been true in the old days, but in the current day and age where mass media communications (internet) controls majority of the society behaviors and patterns.
