Does media control our societies, our behaviors? Is it difficult to measure who or what original means because everything that we wear, listen, eat and act are all things that we have seen not things that we have invented ourselves. Do we live in a world run by media in a form of communication? If media can control societies behaviors today, then what does our future hold?

Honest journalism is buried as collateral damage in a war whose battles include political correctness (corporations who controls media) and ideological orthodoxy.

Yes, media controls society.

That means Jews, Commies and Homos control society. Stewart, Olbermann, Maddow. FTW!

Media only propagates what it sees in society. Media can influence society but only upto an extent. It is the society which influences media more than the other way.

Yes media do control society, If media can control societies behaviors today, then what does our future hold?

Media controls mass behavior . And mostly media itself is controlled by their own political class. The political influences mostly control the half baked truth or their own interpreted truth according to conservative or non conservative ideology they follow .

Their truth influence our behavior pattern, and if they chose to show politically correct truth than real truth, our future is not very bright but same as our present is.

Media influences us, true.
But at the end of the day, it depends on our choices as well..to believe or not to believe, to follow or not to follow.

Media does not control society - it just broadcasts what is already out there on a bigger screen for everyone to see. Just because we all recently found out about [insert anything here] - doesn't mean it wasn't happening before in the pre-media era. Things happen - it's just that we now learn more quickly about what exactly those things are.

Also, media only sells what it knows people will buy. So, somewhere along the line, society is responsible for how the media depicts society. No point in blaming the media for what it sells. Instead, ask those who buy the products, ideas, and actions sold by the media. It's the whole supply and demand chain. Placing all the blame on media is not going to take away the fact that somewhere along the line, it is the people that are not making the right choices.

@return_to_hades: We have become a nation of talking heads. 😆 We are letting the media speak for us. If you are a conservative watching Fox, you would think all liberals are socialists and if you watch MSNBC, you would think all conservatives are as crazy. The truth is somewhere in the middle and we as people need to find our common ground and work from there, not us vs them but just us.

@zorro: We live in a society that depends on information and communication to keep moving in the right direction and do our daily activities like work, entertainment, education, personal relationships, traveling and anything else that we have to do. The media makes billions of dollars with the advertising they sell and that we are exposed to. We buy what we are told to be good.

@Kul: Don't be shocked but for once I totally agree with you. :)

@Doe: Agree, but what we believe may not be the real thing, how do we ever make the right choice?

@Woh Ajnabee: The media are controlled by a relatively small group of billionaires who have clear stakes in economic and political outcomes. The media frame issues, telling the public not necessarily what to think, but what to think about. The media are a major source of information about the world and influence the way people understand who they are, what events are important, and how a society's resources should be distributed. A real democracy would require that the media are not privately controlled by so few and generally unaccountable voices.
