1. Hera Pheri
2. Bhagam Bhag (Mallu sequel of Hera Pheri)
3. Chupchup Ke
4. De Dana Dan
5. Mera Baap Pehle Aap
6. Billu
7. Bodyguard
8. Dhol (the Mallu version was a SUPER DUPER HIT)
9. Golmaal
10. Bhul Bhulaiya
11. Khatta Meetha
12. Hulchul
13. Hungama
14. Garam Masala
15. Kyun Ki]

@melanie- You should watch the Mallu comedies...they have such class man! :)) Even the De Dana Dan one, Vettam was sooo hilarious! And most of the actors are super good :D

I wanted to hide my face when I dragged my friends to see Garam Masala as I had loved Boeing Boeing (malayalam). When I see the hindi remakes you have mentioned above, I dont want to see any but when I think of the malayalam version, most were SO good.
Agree about Paresh-Innocent connection.. Frankly, I feel he is the only saving grace in the hindi versions.
Wonder if a remake of Classmates is possible in hindi - I would say no as most if the actors in BW are very old and the others will have too much ego problems about the casting. A 20-20 type of film in BW is obvioulsy out of the picture fo the last reason

I too wonder whether they would remake a 20-20 (that movie was brilliant) because the BW actors have TOO much of ego. I mean you see a film with Mallu superstars like Mohan Lal, Mammooty, Suresh Gobi, etc and you wonder will you see a Hindi film with SRK, Aamir, Salman? Never!! Even recent movies Christian Brothers & China Town have 3 superstars in one frame...sigh this ego šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼

We might get something like Classmates with Imran, Ranbir, Shahid, Ranveer, etc...unless they too become egoistic!!

And like you said with Garam Masala/Boeing-Boeing, In Harihar Nagar was such a classic comedy...I can still see it and ROFL like crazy, but Dhol was just meh...🄱

I can just see all the actors you mentioned for Classmates fighting for Prithviraj's role. Though I think Ranveer would be good as Jayasurya;-) But do you think he would take up that role?
When I first heard about 20-20 I thought that would be a super flop. I just could not imagine a movie that could do justice to almost all the major actors in the industry. But like you I was so surprised!! That movie should be a lesson to all the BW stars who talk abou doing good for others and their own fraternity. Make a movie with no fee and give all proceeds to the film industry association for supporting actors in need.
Coming to the topic, I could never finish seeing Dhol. That must easily have been the worst remake though I must admit that after all the torture Akshay Kumar has put me through in the remakes, I did not want to give Salman Khan the same opportunity and so stayed away from Kyun Ki. The innocence and freshness that Mohanlal brought to the movie was so great that I still cant bear to see the ending.
By the way, have you seen the hindi version of Chithram? It had Mithun. If you have not, then don't. It is a scene by scene copy with loads of overacting.

Hahah true šŸ˜† Ranveer would be good as Jayasurya, but I doubt he'd want that role. Everyone wants to be the main hero after all šŸ˜†

It did man, it did. I am a sucker for Dileep's comedies, but this movie was just too good. I can see Aamir as Mohanlal, SRK as Mammooty & Salman as Suresh Gobi (both have that buffy exterioršŸ˜†)...maybe someone like Ajay Devgun in Jayaram's role, Ranbir/Shahid as Dileep, etc. But it'll just remain a fantasy. :((

Dhol was so boring. I saw In harihar Nagar after seeing its sequel. The first one is on my IPOD and I remember laughing like crazy while watching it for the umpteenth time, walking home. šŸ˜† Oh I just don't see Salman films. šŸ˜† Akshay ain't so bad actually, its that he is made to do so much of monkey-giri, I feel & he doesn't seem so egoistic. šŸ¤”

I haven't seen either! 😳

Dileeps & Nayantara's Bodyguard is being remade in Hindi starring Salman (WTH) and Kareena. Kareena, I presume will do a good job, but Salman can never match up to Dileep's stupendous acting!!

One good Mallu-Hindi remake was Hera Pheri...I really like that movie! 😊
